I'm seriously considering booking one of the few Aulani hotel rooms that are available using DVC points. Has anyone stayed in one of these rooms yet? I know that it has 2 beds as opposed to one bed and a sofa bed, but are there other differences? From what I can tell, the biggest difference seems to be no microwave. I can ask them if we could get one for our room, or perhaps I could just go out and buy a small one at Target.

No sofa bed
Bonus: best to stay at Aulani is right now, pool area is at half capacity and the lagoon is empty

It's not going to have a kitchenette like you would find in a studio. It is just a hotel room. A studio would at least get you the under the counter size mini frig, microwave, coffee pot, toaster and a rice cooker plus a small countertop area to use. I think they do have a small frig in the hotel rooms but not sure if it's as big as the ones in the villas. (I think I've read that they don't have the freezer section.) I haven't heard of them providing microwaves to use in the hotel rooms.

Thanks for the info! I think I'll just stick with a studio. I do tend to use the frig, microwave and toaster quite a bit, and my Mom will definitely want a coffee pot.

We booked a hotel room on points for next March. We are only going to be there 3 days after a week in Maui and a few days in Waikiki, so I thought we would not need much of a kitchen. If I were staying any longer, I would want a studio for the kitchenette. We pretty much have an idea about our meals, and will not be eating in the room.
When we were there for a week, we stayed in a 2 bedroom villa, and I loved having a kitchen to cook meals in rather than having to eat out all the time.

Oh we always use the toaster for bagels and / or frozen waffles etc. We always make our breakfasts in our villa and always use it. The reg. hotel rooms probably have a coffee pot too...
