We are planning our first trip to Disney with our 2-year-old twins and 4-year-old. We really need a suite, but are on a budget. I got a great rate at the Doubletree Suites in downtwon Disney. But, I don't know a thing about it, other than what's online. Has anyone stayed there? Is it too far from everything? Any other lodging ideas for a family of 5? THANKS!

We stayed there in June for three nights while we were checking out the Hilton Grand Vacation Club. It was okay. There were two double beds in the bedroom and one fold out sleeper sofa (the sleeper sofa was not as comfortable as a DVC sleeper sofa). The hotel is a bit run down in my opinion, strange colors. We had a musty odor in our room that only went away if we had the AC down real cold. The pool was okay. Breakfast buffet was pretty good. We had our own car, so we didn't use the hotel bus. It left a few times a day and returned a few times a day, not the every 20 minutes like a Disney resort.

If I couldn't stay in a Disney resort, I might stay here.

You are not eligible for EMH, but you can get E-night tickets. We walked to DTD a few times - took about 15 minutes.

We stayed there in May and wouldn't go back until they renovate this hotel.
Walking to the elevators after check-in, you are assaulted with a hard-sell time share push.
The room:
The pull out couch was broken (obvious because the seat was at a weird angle) and wouldn't open. The bathroom had peeling paint and missing tiles. The doors to the bedroom wouldn't close properly and wouldn't stay closed. It took 4 calls over 2 days to have the couch fixed (they did bring up 2 roll-a-ways in the meantime) but the door was never repaired during our 5 days there.
We've chosen to get 2 rooms at the All-Stars this time around.
