Looking for anyone who stayed at Ron Jon recently? I am considering it for before we cruise. Any opinions on local hotels would be great. Thanks

We stayed at Ron Jon's the night before our July 17th Western Cruise..There were 8 of us, we had two 2 bedroom units which were very spacious & clean. Check in was at 4pm and that was the time we arrived after our 27 hour drive. We all felt that the place was fine for an overnight stay, but keep in mind that it is a time share resort & not a hotel. You need to strip the beds before leaving in the morning at 10...very strict about check out time. They inventory everything in each unit because they supply dishes, pots & pans etc. There is a small washer & dryer in the 2 bedroom units which was very convenient. The kids enjoyed the Lazy River & Waterslide. There is a restaurant, but we didn't eat there..we heard it was O.K We had brought some food & drinks with us so we cooked breakfast before leaving in the morning & ordered pizza the night before from Dominos. If you get a discount rate it's a great overnight stay. Have fun ! Cathie & The Gang * PS The bedroom in front with the two doubles has the bright hall light shining in all night long (it has frosted glass & no curtain or blinds)..bring a dark beach towel or two if you want to avoid daylight all night long!

We stayed in a studio at Ron Jon's on 8/20/04. We were able to check into our room around noon time which was very surprising. The resort itself is very nice. The room was tastefully decorated. The bed was very hard and the pillows were too fluffy. I woke up with a stiff neck. In order to open up the pull out couch you had to move a lot of furniture around. The bathroom was huge. Had a whirlpool tub and a shower in it. The water park was fun. But the ground was extremely hot. You really needed to wear something on your feet to just walk around the pool. Took the trolley to the beach. The water was extremely warm. The restaurant was very good. The best quesidilla's (sp) I ever had. Hated being asked about the timeshare tour. Very pushy. The gave us a free mug and when we said we didn't want to take the tour they tried to take the mug away from us. My husband said no way! Just stay away from the timeshare people and you should do ok. The other people who work there are nice, but it's not like Disney. We wouldn't give up our DVC membership for Ron Jon at any price. Oh and we didn't have to strip our bed before we left. No one mentioned that to us.
