I'm going to try South Beach diet starting Monday. Anyone interested in buddying up for the first phase? (I need to get through the first 2 weeks before I am ready to "unite" with the other SBers. :grouphug: ) I tried this over a year ago and couldn't stick with the plan for the first 2 weeks on my own, :confused3 so I'm looking for encouragement from someone who's also in the first 2 weeks. Anyone willing to commiserate and :cheer2: as needed so we don't go  ?

I would but don't have the book, though I have read it and think its great eating plan. :thumbsup2

I really like the glycemic index stuff. Very interesting. I love that is nearly vegetarian which I'm working towards anyway.

I do have some ebooks I bought on ebay so I'll read them and I'll let you know if I decide to try it for real this time. :)

I gotta do something I tried to sign up for WW online but got the run around with them failing me credit card due to my billing address and phone number not matching(I've moved too much in last year). I'm fed up with them right now as far as online plan goes anyway. The cost is right because i could check the book out of library again. Or just break down and buy it instead of the "start up" for WW and then a monthly fee. KWIM? I just do well with WW when I eat whatever and just limit "points". Wanted to ad that I have a hard time with restrictions. It takes me time to cut things out so I was afraid to try this one. Especially since so much of dh and my diet is pasta.

Is it 2 weeks of NO breads?

I found my ebook with the foods to avoid and phase 1 foods list.

I just wonder if I could really give up my pasta. I'm really into the Barilla Plus which is sooo much better in terms of many things. Its multigrain and it taste good to me. I cooked it once for my family(my mom grandma, brothers and dh) and nobody noticed it was any different and if they did they didn't say a word. :confused3

I guess for just 2 weeks huh?? Its hard because we do Italian atleast a couple times a week on average. I'll have to talk with dh and see if he'd be willing to go with simple foods for a week. Hes working alot of evening 3pm-11pm shifts anyway and not home for dinner much anyway.

It really would be sooo much more affordable than WW though.

After the first 2 weeks, whole grain pasta could be added in occasionally. I'm in same boat with getting book from library rather than paying to join WW for info and then the meeting cost too. If I spent too much $$ on WW, then I can't go to WDW as easily - I've got my priorities ;). DH is also eating "per usual" while at work, which is 2 meals a day. This will keep him from getting too cranky and will eat up the food in he freezer that I can't justify throwing out. It will be day-by-day how I handle food with the kids - I won't delete carbs and fruit for two weeks for them. If you do want to join me, PM me so we can email encouragement without filling up this WISH board.

Hi -

I started this morning - I purchased the wrong book on the internet so instead of waiting another day. I am going to start anyhow.

I need to lose at least 25 lbs and summer is coming quick.

I would love a buddy system to keep me motivated.

I KNOW WE CAN DO IT.

Food Journal so far: Breakfast - 2 eggs and 2 coffees

For the lunch I am planning a Ceasar Salad and I have no idea what I am having for dinner any ideas???

Again. This is day ONE and I started an hour ago. I was so happy to find your post. :goodvibes

There's a SB dieters Unite thread already and I don't want to compete with that. I'd like to email each other, PM (not through DIS), then we can Unite with the others. I really need specific Phase 1 buddies because I see that as my biggest challenge now. After I survive phase 1 then I'll be ready to Unite. I did eat up some "bad carbs" and "bad fat" for breakfast to get them out of the house and noticed that I didn't even enjoy it - this is a new food 'tude for me. Let's hope I can keep it up!

I was just reading the thread and wanted to pop in and say good luck to you all. Phase 1 is a challenge, but the benefits are so worth it!!! I hope that you all can keep each other motivated, challenged, and can help each other through!!!

Thank you for your reply - Everyword counts. I have been on these boards all day just to keep myself out of the kitchen. Are you on the SBD now?

If so do you know how long Phase 1 lasts from what I read it looks like 2 weeks. I only have the guide book not the original.

There is a great SB group also at Ivillage that basically sets up the whole SB plan for you... it has food lists, menu ideas, etc. I got the link from the other SB threads here on the DIS... and it really was enough for me to get moving. I did Phase one and lost 8 lbs.. then I went to Disney... well... I pretty much stayed on track until after I ran the Minnie.. or rather walked it! LOL!! But my body started crying out for carbs... and I gave in.. a little... but not like I normally would have. So, now that I am home (and I didn't gain anything while I was away!) I am doing Phase one again to get rid of the sugar stuff again.... Yeah, yeah.. I had to have that milkshake at Beaches and Cream! LOL!! I just wanted to let you know there are MANY resources on the web, you don't really have to go out and get the book before you get started.... Good luck!

Kathy
