An open letter to all DISBoards.com members and visitors

It was nearly 14 years ago when I started DISBoards.com Over the years this site has helped hundreds of thousands of people plan their Disney vacation. It has helped hundreds of thousands of people save money on their Disney vacations. It has been the catalyst for many life long friendships, more than a few marriages and more than a few ‘DIS babies’. It has an impact on Disney fans and vacationers far beyond anything I could have ever imagined, and I’m immensely proud of it.

Over those 14 years we have asked very little of our visitors, podcast listeners and forum members. We don’t charge for access to our site, we strive to create an environment where help, information and friendships can flow and form, and we’ve tried our best to keep advertising at a minimum. But the time has come for us to ask for your help.

Some of you may know of the incredible work done by Give Kids the World – a unique organization located in Kissimmee, FL that fulfills the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses that ask to visit Walt Disney World. If you are not familiar with Give Kids the World, I ask that you take a moment and follow some of the links that are listed at the end of this message. I’m sure you will agree that some truly amazing things are being done at the Give Kids the World village.

We are spearheading a drive to raise $1 Million for GKTW. We are calling this “The Power of 10: The Give Kids the World $1 Million challenge”. Our goal is simple – we are looking for 10,000 people who would be willing to commit to asking 10 friends to donate $10 to this very worthy cause. We have established a special web site http://www.powerof10.us that explains more about our efforts, about Give Kids the World and where and how you can donate.

We all know how magical a Disney vacation is – how much it means to share that experience with our friends and our family. Here is a wonderful opportunity for you to help make that experience a reality for families facing challenges most of us could never imagine. 10,000 people asking 10 friends to donate $10 will make a huge difference to Give Kids the World and the children they serve. Please help us to reach this goal – and share the magic of Disney with the people who need it the most.
