I have not, but my best friend did. She told me it was very well done, and she appreciated the history aspect (she's into history stuff). However, it was pretty gruesome (I guess that should be obvious though). She said with some of the murders she was litterally jumping out of her seat.
I haven't seen it. I had expected it to be mostly true. But evidently it is very very historical fiction (though I don't think it is advertised that way). I read an article that spoke about this (have since tossed it--sorry). Anyway--they said that a key statement that Golda Meir makes regarding the response (or something)....is something she absolutely didn't say. They even provided what she did say. Basically--it rewrites history.
I'm sure it is all intentional (inspired by true events maybe?). But I was under the impression that it was more based on true events if that makes any sense. I'm still interested in seeing it at some point, but that article really cleared it up for me and actually left me a bit disappointed.
The movie Delta Force comes to mind to explain what I mean. For years that is how I thought the highjacking played out--but it was a fictionalized account of what really happened with some incidents very true and others regarding the actual hijacking itself not true (I was a tween--didn't know any better).
It is a very well done movie. It has its flaws, but overall well worth seeing IMO. It's not exactly an uplifting kinda movie, so if you're looking for that, pick something else. Very much a question of difficult moral issues all throughout the movie. It is graphic in its depiction of the violence involved. But all in all, I thought it was a very good movie.

I saw it during New Years weekend and I have to agree with your friend. For some reason the gunshots and explosions really got to me in this movie too. I flinched everytime a shot rang out or something blew up. It was a very good movie and Eric Bana, as well as everyone else, did a really good job.
We saw it New Years Eve and wow. Everyone left the theater in a daze. I expected it to be somewhat gory but not as gruesome as it was. I easily get nightmares from guns and all that and had nightmares about the whole movie a week afterwards. I'm glad I saw it to understand that period in time, but it's like Schindlers List to me, something you should see at home so you can take breaks.
