I know that Humpback Whales winter in the warm waters of the Carribean and that dolphins like to surf the bow waves on boats and ships. I was wondering if anyone has seen Whales or Dolphins while the ship was underway?

We were on the seven day eastern in June and while my DH and DD's were off playing, I was just relaxing on our verandah. I was sitting just watching the waves when I saw some splashing off in the distance. I got up to look over the side and a few minutes later a dolphin swam right by the ship. I was so excited, but disappointed that DH and DD's missed it. I didn't see anymore after that.

Going on the Western October 9th 2004. Can't wait!!!!:earsgirl:

I've seen both in the past while on fishing charters (off LI, NY or NJ coasts)... Wonder if we'll see them on a Jan. cruise... :bounce:

When we finished our 4 day cruise and were in port ready to disembark we saw dolphins in the water playing by the ship.

They're not playing as much as waiting for a quick feed.

Watch off the rear of the ship as she pulls out of port - when it stirs up the bottom of the channel, the dolphins go to work big time in the wake feeding.

Dolphins and sea turtles. Never saw a whale, though.

and... After disembarkation, if you're still near the port when the ship takes off for the next voyage, stick around at the shore and you can see dolphins in front of the ship as well as it is exiting the port - we got great video of it after our last cruise.

We saw quite a few dolphins playing around the bow as we were leaving port.

While parasailing at C.C. the boat operators saw a whale in the distance and tried to catch up with it , but could not. So they are there.

Cute Dana , real cute, That was me you seen beached at the pool:eek:

We saw loads of dolphins..all in the same afternoon.

There were also manatees swimming near the ship while we were in port.

We also saw sea turtles, jelly fish, flying fish...same time we were watching the dolphins from our verandah...a truly amazing experience.

I'll just hope we get the opportunity to see some dolphins and other sea life when we cruise in Jan 2004. Even if we don't see any, I'll enjoy just gazing out to sea.....

We saw whales during our Eastern cruise in January. DS6 had fallen asleep in the cabin, and we watched them in the distance while on our verandah.

It was so magical, but I wish DS had seen them to. Maybe next time!!!
