Anyone Seen Dick Cheney?

I've heard reports that he's still on vacation, but I can't vouch for whether or not they're true..

This is related to hurricane Katrina???? :confused3

Oh, of course, another person that can be blamed for the disaster. OK now i get it.

You don't have to be so snappy, snappy...(ba-da-ba ching!)

I don't know why it was started on this board, but it's a valid question. Nobody has seen or heard from him since this thing happened. What if something, God forbid, something happened to the President while he was visiting the disaster areas??

Do we ever see him???

I don't think it is to blame--general curiousity would be to wonder where he is.

We saw lots and lots of Al Gore when he was VP (just an observation--I didn't vote for Clinton). Since 9/11--we pretty much NEVER see Cheney. I know they try not to have them together often b/c of security--but good grief, does he ever get out?

It is very very odd and I would think important for him to step out and be another leader to look at the carnage and politic to help repair it.

Let's see.. We have a President who is supposed to be in charge of running this country and in his OWN words "keeping our citizens out of harms way.."

The there is a Vice-President to "back him up", take over if necessary, etc., etc..

Thousands of people are in "harms way"..

Yes - the VP's whereabouts is definitely realted to Hurricane Katrina..

I was wondering the same thing myself and I think it is a valid question. I think I would be asking even if response had been faster and there wasn't so much finger pointing and so many questions.

While I do think the response was about 24 to 36 hours too slow (even in the face of the massive resources that had to be pulled together) I'm really not blaming anyone as I think the focus needs to be on getting continued help, support and supplies to all the effected areas, but I STILL wonder where Cheney is in the face of a national disaster/crisis. It is odd we haven't at least seen a clip of him and even odder (to me) that the media hasn't mentioned him at all -- at least that I have heard. I'm SURE if he was still vactioning the media would have been all over it, but I've heard nada about him.

You'd think that the Vice President could at least offer up some words of encouragement or condolences.

A press conference, something......anything.

Exactly.

er, he's still alive, right? ;)

Halliburton gets its share, but where has Cheney been?
It was only a matter of time.

From the Houston Chronicle: " The Navy has hired Houston-based Halliburton Co. to restore electric power, repair roofs and remove debris at three naval facilities in Mississippi damaged by Hurricane Katrina." The Chronicle says that a Halliburton subsidiary, KBR, will also perform damage assessments at naval facilities in New Orleans.

KBR got the work under a pursuant to a contract awarded to it in a competitive-bid process in 2004, the Chronicle says. There's no word on whether Dick Cheney was involved then, or really on what he's doing now. The vice president has been on vacation in Wyoming for much of the week; when the Washington Post's Dan Froomkin asked a White House spokeswoman Wednesday about Cheney's plans to return to Washington, he was told: "He will certainly be coming back. I'm not able to tell you the day right now. I don't have that handy." Whenever the vice president returned, he's back now. We have photographic proof: Cheney was in the White House Rose Garden this morning, chatting with Karl Rove as the president delivered his weekly radio address.

Well at least now we know what he's been doing this past week;

Grave robbing.

I read that he retuned to Washington from his vacation in Wyoming on Thursday. Not a even a single day early.

I think that part of that was b/c Al Gore had plans for running for President where as Dick Cheney won't. I can't even remember the last time I saw Cheney on the news though.

Condi spent Wednesday evening at a Broadway Theater - watching Spamalot.

True colors showing through - humanitarian actions only initiated for politcal gain.
This administration is an EMBARRASSMENT. And absolute embarrassment.
