Not saying what they did was right and if the paper has all the facts right then they got everything that was coming to them. I have learned with first hand experience however newspapers RARELY if ever report all the facts with a truthfull unbiased opinion. A horrific story sells more papers than a story about someone being stupid.

I understand that the complete story isn't always there, but what could be missing that would change the fact that they were by themselves and the foster parents thought that was OK? I have worked in the Public Welfare system for 25 years and have seen too many similar instances (take Disney out of it).

OMG At those ages I would be petrified to even slip around the corner to pick up a soda!!! Regardless if they were put down for a nap, one never knows when they'd wake up. I can only imagine what they might have gotten into in the hours between when the CM found them and they actually found the parents. Just scary.

Exactly. When ever I went by myself with my kids I would never even run down the hall to get ice. If they were sleeping I did without. Some people are stupid and shouldn't have kids in their care and these people are good examples. At least the housekeeper found them and we didn't here about so tragic event.

What's even worse, if the information in the article is accurate, the "guardians" involved didn't even seem to see what the problem was. If it took security more than two hours to find them, how long had the kids been alone when the mousekeeper walked in and how long were they planning on being gone?! Put the kids down for a nap and went to the pool?!

The article never mentioned if charges were laid. I don't know what the laws are like there, but here at the very least they would have been charged with child abandonment, possibly endangerment.

There is no age for that in Florida BUT they can make a judgement call on that because the kids were so young and anyone would know the kids could not take care of themselves.The OCSO can arrest them based on their own judgement and I hope they did...2 and 4 yrs old is a very big leap from 7 or 8.

So for at least two hours these people were down at the pool with no thought or sense to at least go up and check on those kids. Unbelieveable. So sad, those kids were obviously at some point in their young lives removed from one bad situation, only to end up in another one. The endless list of bad things that could have happened is hard to comprehend.

And they didn't even see a problem which is also just mind boggling.

I guess to each his own...running out of a room is okay in my opinion although you never know what could happen in the few seconds...but leaving for hours on end is just negligent!

I cannot even imagine this. Last trip I dropped my car keys when we were returning to the hotel and when I realized they were missing I left DD5 in the room by herself to trace back to the car to get the keys and I was stressed out about that but it was late and she had already fallen asleep. Leaving any kid in a hotel room for hours is a poor choice no matter how you cut it.

Don't they remember the story of that little girl madilyn that disappeared from her hotel room and still has never been found while her parents were out to dinner while on vacation?
