Anyone see the Northern Lights?

We're on the September 3rd sailing to Alaska this year and I'm wondering if we have any chance of seeing the Northern Lights. I read you can sometimes see them in late August or September as far south as Ketchikan. Anyone see them last year??? Thanks!

September may be a bit early, but out at sea when the sky is absolutely black, it is possible. We get the best northern light shows in December - February. However, I have seen them in broad daylight in the summertime before, so anything is possible. Be sure to check the northern lights forecast before you go! http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast - They predict probabilities of northern lights in various regions based on solar activity.

We have seen them as far south as Upstate NY (along the southern shore of Lake Ontario).

Has the Wonder ever been in Alaska when it is still light late at night? I think thats what happens in Alaska sometimes. It either stays light longer or dark longer...i cant remember...
