Anyone see the "guts" of Space Mountain on Friday?

I am just back from a week at WDW, and my son was MOST thrilled by the sneak peek of Space Mountain from the TTA. The ride was down for a bit (this was in the evening hours - maybe 5 or 6 pm), and the lights were on as we rode through the Space Mountain section of TTA. Cool!

The ride was still down when we left at 7 pm though, so I never got to ride. I stupidly saved it for last. :(

We saw it a couple years ago while riding the TTA. My MIL took pictures.

It looked like a giant Cat and Mouse roller coaster from those cheezy roadside carnivals with grey insulation sprayed on the ceiling. Cool, but certainly not pretty!

I also saw it with the lights on a few years back...on friday, my brother and his 2 stepdaughters rode about 5 times in a row- the line was that short! It must have been just before the lights went on.

My DS10 (now DS11) and I saw it via a TTA ride this past February. We specifically raced to TTA when we saw that SM was down and got just what we expected.

I only wish I had my camera with me at the time. :rotfl:

I always laugh and say no wonder they keep it in the Dark. :smooth:

That thing looks like it's going to fall apart at any minute just a twisted mass of metal.

I do love the ride it gives you .

We did -- and here I'd told my 4 yr old niece about how we were going to see the roller coaster that goes into outer space that she's too little to ride, and she was all excited, and we go in and the lights were all on. My sister and I thought it was really cool to see the workings of Space Mtn, but the 4 yr old wasn't impressed. :)

I've seen SM quite a few times with the lights on...it's very interesting! The first time I saw it with the lights on, I was taking pictures wildly! :)

Even though I've seen it lit, I still LOVE riding and it's still a must-do for me when I'm at WDW! :teeth:

I read that the top speed of SM is only around 28 MPH, but in the dark it feels a lot faster. I'd love to see it in person with the lights on!

We have seen it a few times and are amazed at what it looks like. Nothing like what we thought it might look like though.

I've seen it with the lights on a couple of times from the TTA. This past Wed., DH and DD were on it and right before it got to the end, it stopped. The lights came on and a CM had to come and push their car to the end.

We rode Space Mountain at the end of EMH on Dec. 10 - walk on. But, while the lights were not on, it was not that dark inside, allowing a fairly good view of most of the inner workings. I think it detracts from the ride, as you can see the twists and turns as if you were outside. It was not how I remembered it from years ago.
