what is that girl that is getting married thinking???

Okay, now that that is out of the way I'm glad and annoyed that I watched. Okay, mostly glad. We are moving and buying a new house and I am dying for some new furniture...which would most likely be financed. Not to mention the debt we currently hold. Not to mention we were thinking about a trip to WDW this year. But she's right...I'm going to just save my pennies for a year and then buy outright what I want.

Of course, if there is any left over from close I may just splurge on one chair that I really really want for my living room. maybe. hmmmm...

Anyone else see the show today?

What about the lady that wanted to buy the $700K+ home? She said that she didn't believe her husband when he said that they couldn't afford that home. They didn't even have the minimum down payment of 5%!!!! Reality check time!!!!

I know...I sometimes feel like we've gotten into a hole, but I see things like this and I feel virtually debt free! LOL!

It has just come on here. I can't believe the couple who are planning the wedding! WOW!!
Looks like this will be a really good show.

Poohstyx

You know, I was just thinking...that girl who wanted the $700k house that didn't realize she needed a downpayment? Well, I'll bet she hasn't thought about closing costs either! Ouch!

Okay, details on the wedding couple for those of us that missed it!!! LOL! :)

The wedding couple started out with a $15,000 budget. Then it went up to $25,000, then $40,000. They followed them around to caterers, photographers, bridal shops, etc. I thought the groom was going to stroke out! She wanted "the" day. The perfect day. She was delusional. Combined they already had $46,000 in credit card debt and only make combined $65,000. He originally wanted spmething for $10,000. All put on credit cards of course. I swear there is a generation out there that thinks credit cards are free money. Suze told them if they put $40,000 on a credit card with 21% interest and paid $600 a month it would take them 100 YEARS to pay it off! That shook them up.

I love Suze. I've learned so much from her concerning my finances and how closely they are linked to my personality. I highly recommend her tapes and books to anyone who wants to get their financial life in order. Living debt free is wonderful.

I didn't see the show, but I've read one of her books. I think that she really knows her stuff!:D

My favorite thing about the wedding couple was just how out there she was...thought she would be getting a good deal on a wedding gown for only $3k, the invitations she liked were $800 for 50...amazing!

i loved when the girl said, "What can I get for $10,000" and Suze replied, "HIM!"

I thought that really hit the nail on the head.....

exactly. I mean, this guy better have thought this thru...if she is like this for the wedding, what will happen when they buy a house? Have a baby? An anniversary even?

Luckily Oprah reruns at 11pm here in Chicago if you miss it at 9am, so I get to see it!
Sounds like a good show.
