My son is running his first marathon on Sunday in Minneapolis. He signed me up to run the 10 mile run. Is anyone else out there doing this?

My friend's husband is running the marathon. I'm volunteering but not running this weekend. Good luck to your son!

We did it!!! We both made it!!! It was horriblly hot and humid! Go figure - Oct. 7 in Minnesota and it is 80 degrees with 78% humidity. Broke records.
I finished 10 miles in 2 hours 33 minutes (15.19 mile pace) would have been a bit faster but walked and ran with a lady who was trying to keep going. My son finished in 5:16:34!! (12:05 mile pace) He finished 5616 out of 10500. I finished 5074 out of 5500. It was soooo beautiful!! You run from the Metradome, along the Mississippi River and up a road called Summit Avenue all the way to the Minnesota State Capitol. Gorgeous old homes and trees all the way. My son also ran all the way around 4 lakes and then took the same route. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it but I surprised myself and made it . I ran the 1/2 in Disney in 2005 and had a 14:40 pace but I trained for 4 months. This time I trianed for 2 months. Congrats to all who run ( even a block)!!!

Well, I am an idiot and a fool! I should have wished you a great race as well! Congratulations on finishing. It was quite a day for it, goodness knows! I dutifully passed out blankets, but it was sure sweltering out there. Glad you and your son got through safe and sound. Summit really is lovely - I haven't run up there, but have admired the homes many times. Do you think you will run again next year? I had a good time volunteering and would definitely do it again. Congratulations again! Great job!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the good wishes!! I was limping around yesterday but feel much better today. You know the sweltering heat on Sunday I talked about, We are under a Winter Weather Advisory today and I have 1 inch of snow on my deck and we expect up to 4 inches. Crazy!!!! Glad that didn't happen on Sunday!!! Yes , I am hoping to do it agian next year. The Walker North Country in Sept. is also very beautifull and it is only 45 miles.

Brrr. It's not that cold here in the metro, but I can say the blankets would have been VERY popular had that been the weather on Sunday!

That looks like a gorgeous race in September!
