Kali River rapids while pregnant? I have ridden it many times before so I know what the ride is like, but i will be around 23 weeks pregnant when we go. I dont really perceive this ride as dangerously bumpy - but would like opinion.

Thanks

I have been on a similar ride (can't remember where) and jarred my neck quite badly when the boat banged into the side. Wouldn't think of it as a bumpy ride normally, but I guess you can never tell? Up to you obviously, but I don't think I would risk it just in case.

To be honest I don't think I would risk it, I went on Kali for the 1st time in January and I thought it was bumpy, esp when you go down the big drop. I am sure that it has a pregnacy warning before you go on too.

I would not take the risk. I went to Florida in November when I was 5 1/2 mths pregnant, i would not even ride Kilimanjaro Safari.

I too went to WDW 24wks pregnant & did not even do Kilimanjaro Safari it said not to if pregnant and the safety of my unborn son meant more to me than a ride that I could wait and do after he had arrived safely. Which by the way I have now done if it says don't ride while pregnant it says it for a reason !!

I do agree that the OP should take care and choose carefully which rides she is comfortable riding but I am going to stick my neck out and say that she should use her judgement rather than go solely on the signs outside the rides.

It is worth at least noting (even if it makes no difference to your decision) that the USA is an EXTREMELY litigious culture. People sue for all sorts of things and sometimes when there is a very tenuous link between an incident and perceived cause. Hence the signs warning not to ride if you have x,y, z or are pregnant are almost certainly based more on the advice of the lawyers than a medical practitioner.

Like I say I am not for a minute suggesting she hop off to universal and do Duelling Dragons back to back or anything silly, just to take a balanced view.

I went to DLRP when 30 weeks pregnant, I asked my midwife about rides and her advice was to avoid really bumpy things like Star Tours etc... but for things I had ridden before just use my judgement.

I too aggree that judgement should be made by the OP. However, I took my 11 month old son on Kilamanjaro Safaris and it was far too bumpy for him, he was not at all impressed by it and did not enjoy the very bumpy ride and sudden stops that the driver kept performing, I wished that I hadn't taken him near the ride as he also bumped his head on one of the said sudden stops as it was hard to hold him steady and hold myself in one piece. I don't think I would go near it if I were pregnant - but that is just my opinion.

I have been on Kilmanjaro many times - I did not ask about this ride and do not wish to be judged as to whether I place more importance on my unborn child or the ride!

It was a mere question to which I now have the answer from an AK cast member.

I was going to say exactly the same thing!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We've just come back and we took DS9mths on it - and his head was jerking up and down and it really was dreadful - I had been on it myself before and never really noticed but it really did affect him - I think it was perhaps that you couldn't really tell when there would be a bad movement so couldn't really 'brace' yourself for it - I think it would probably be a bit uncomfortable for you anyway so if it was me I'd give it a miss too!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I am soooo going to make sure i get the florida bug out of my system by going just before we plan to start a family :) ....i don't think i could go and not ride any rides :confused3
