TIA! :goodvibes

I know several people that have rented from Jackson Mountain Homes and loved it. I've only rented a cabin once when I've visited there (all of the other time I stayed in hotels/timeshares). I went with www.cabinfevervacations.com and would never stay through them again. The cabin we chose was FAR away from the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area (although it said 5 minutes), several things in the cabin were broken (including the jacuzzi tub which they sent someone and it took hours to fix - we were only there for four days and spent most of the day waiting for maintenance to come). We went towards the end of September and it was pretty chilly at night but apparently they don't turn on the gas for the gas fireplaces until "Fall" (even though it said nothing about that on their website). The website said it had a grill (which it did about 200 feet from the cabin so while he grilled I basically hung out by myself at the cabin). The jacuzzi on the back deck looked big in the pictures and when we got there it barely fit two people. Also it was down a long dark gravel road up the side of a mountain to get there (which was pretty creepy/scary). We arrived at night and there were no lights on in the cabin so we drove past it several times before we even realized it was there. Also the check in desk clerks were very unfriendly.

But those are just my experiences. I would go with Jackson Mountain if I went again and stayed in a cabin. Wherever you choose if you have any questions be sure you ask before you go and don't just assume to have those things. Good luck!

We rented from Sugar Maple Cabins this past summer. We had Mountain Seduction Getaway - the view was completely unobstructed, meaning there were no cabins across the street, below us, etc. It was not possible to build below us either, it was straight down. The ride up the mountain was somewhat nerve racking, those mountain roads.............Anyway, the cabin was decorated in a black bear theme, very nice.

I Recently Rented From Cobbly Knobb. It Was Super Nice And Out Of The Main Stream And All The Crowd.

We have attended a family reunion at Oak Haven Resort for the last 5 summers. We absolutely love the place. It's probably 10-15 minutes from Sevierville, but the cabins really are as nice as they look in the photos. We also get a BIG cabin for our large family (6 bedroom + game room).

Go check out http://www.oakhavenresort.com.

BTW, Southern Living magazine had an article on "how to find the right Smokey Mountain accommodations for your family" sometime in the last 6 months. Maybe you can find it online. They must have rated at least 20 different cabin rental places.

Good luck!

My boss and her family had a great experience at Oak Haven Resort, as well.

We have rented from several companies over the years. Brothers Cove is such a nice resort a little far from town, but very relaxing, They have a nice swimming pool on top of a mountain. Some of there cabins have have the best view you could ever ask for. This summer we rented from Eden Crest resorts, we got a cabin from the Covered Bridge Resort, we absolutely loved them, they have a indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and miniature golf course. I highly recomend either of these resorts. They are both in Sevierville so there tax rate is a little cheaper than Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. If you go to www.mypigeonforge.com you can get a whole list of cabin rentals. If you want a cabin close to town try Alpine mountain rentals all are right next to town, also a nice resort. :thumbsup2

thank you to everyone who has responded so far! i'm so overwhelmed w/ all this, your suggestions are a huge help!

We've rented from both companies. The Jackson Mountain cabin was at least 10 - 15 from downtown Gatlinburg, but it was pretty new and beautiful. I think this was our cabin:

We've booked a house through Baskins Creek last year. It wasn't that great - located downtown, but not in the best neighborhood. It was a remodeled house with an indoor hot tub and smelled of chlorine 24/7 (so we did too).

We just rented a condo through Baskins Creek Condominiums last month and we LOVED it! I highly recommend staying here. It looks like a cabin on the inside, but you can easily walk downtown within 2 - 3 minutes. This was our room:

We just got back from Gatlinburg and stayed in a cabin through Sugar Maple Cabins. It was a 2 bedroom that sleeps 10 called Breathtaking View. It was absolutely wonderful. The cabin was so well cared for and furnished. The kitchen had absolutely everything to cook meals including pots pans, dishes, serving trays, etc. The hot tub was great. It had two decks and the lower deck had privacy screens on both sides of the hot tub. It had a foosball table and a pool table. DS6 loved sleeping in the loft which was the highest point of the cabin. It was just so relaxing. The decks had rockers and a glider to just sit out there and take it all in. Go to www.sugarmaplecabins.com and check it out. You are right - there are so many to choose from and it looks like you have gotten some good recommendations to get you started. Good luck and enjoy your trip. By the way - we did several shows and Dixie Stampede was by far the best if you have kids. We also did Magic Beyond Belief and Comedy Barn which were both good too. One thing I was so impressed with during all of the shows was their respect for the military and the fact that they expressed christian beliefs through either their conversation or songs. Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge is a great place to go and we cannot wait to go back again. Have fun planning your trip.

PS - this cabin is located in Legacy Mountain Resort. You can also go to their website and see some of the amenities that are supposed to be done by next year which includes a clubhouse, swimming pool, restaurant, spa, etc. on top of the hill that is only for guests. I was told they would even have room service from the restaurant down to your cabin. It would not be necessary as you have everything there to cook but it might be nice on a night you want to stay in and relax. This was not done when we were there but I look forward to checking it out in the future because it would be nice for DS to be able to swim. That is the only downside to going with a cabin vs. a condo/hotel but looks like that will be taken care of in the future.

We've used American Patriot Getaways for about 7 years. I have to admit the "cleaning fee" bugs the snot out of me. However, we've always LOVED our cabins and their website is easy to use. Lots of pictures and very clear pricing.

They also have a section called "budget cabins." We stayed in one of those for a quick trip once. It was still very nice with a great view, hot tub, pool table and jacuzzi tub.

We know the owners of GreatChalets.com. We have stayed in their cabins and they are very nice :)

Do any of the bigger rental properties in Tennesse have private pools like the houses in Outer Banks, N.C? We really enjoyed staying in N.C. but haven't found anything similar anywhere else in the US.

I agree we have had great experiences with them. We like to go early spring when it snows sometimes. One year it snowed really bad and the roads were closed and we could not get to our cabin when we got there. They found us another one we could get to without any problems. HTH

We always use Volunteer cabin rentals. They seem to be much cheaper and they usually offer some type of online discount... We have stayed at proabably 8 of their cabin's and everyone has been new and nice. Very clean. I think their website is Volunteercabinrentals.com
