Looking to rent a Home for about 8 of us. Got a great offer with a home in this developement. It is a beautiful house inside and out. My first instinct is to grab it. But it seems too good to be true. It's more reasonable to rent a home instead of getting a hotel room. Is this common? And has anyone else stayed in Calabay Parc?

I have never stayed in Calabay Parc. Have been thru it and it is beautiful. Here is a map of the area where it is located.

I will say this about renting a home. The prices vary but are cheaper then hotel rooms especialy if you are splitting the cost. The prices are gen. more expensive with the amenities you that you are offered. Also the larger the home the more expensive the home. Some times the closer the home to Disney the more expensive the home.
For what you get renting a pool home is pretty reasonable. It is not on disney property so there is a loss for some people. Not everything is for every one so that is why there is so much variety.

directly from an owner, or going through a managment company?

We prefer to deal "direct" with an owner, as oppposed to a property management company - you're assured that the house in the pictures is the actual house you'll be staying in, and we appreciate all the "extras" that an owner can help with, ie, good things to know about their house, and all the personal service:)

JMHO, YMMV:)

Sites we like:
www.vrbo.com
www.orlandovillas.com and their sister sites.

We really like the area that Calabay Parc is located in...we stayed in VistaPark last year, and love the HWY27 area - this year, we're heading for Glenbrook.

HTH!! Let us know how it all turns out..

We are staying there in January (21-28). We've stayed in that general area, however never in Calabay Parc before. I am excited. When are you looking to go?

We have looked at Calabay Parc, it is one of the nicest developments.
However, really do not like the location on the US27 and much prefer to be based just off the 192 ourselves.

It will be at least 20 minutes to Disney and Universal from CP.

To Universal you are definetly looking at 20-30 minutes drive. However, we did the drive from across the hwy of Calabay Parc in 2003 and it was solid 15 minutes. It was a quick drive though and never felt that long.
It really comes down to you can get a villa right there by the parks- but they are more expensive. That would be all about location. You can probably save close to $300-700 by going into the Davenport are. At least this is what we've found, and it's why we rent up that way as opposed to right by the parks.

Thanks for sharing Kilee. We also prefer the 192 area, but often wondered how bad it would be to be off the 27. And extra 90 minutes in the car (over a week) may be worth it for a big savings.
