Anyone remember when the military discounts were announced?

If that's true then that would surely change up my strategy. I remember when all the military discounts were out this summer, for the Baltic in particular, and someone on here had said they switched their reservation and even with the penalty came out ahead. So I wonder if anyone has been able to do it for sure. If that was the case I would book this fall but I don't know if I feel comfortable with doing so w/o knowing for sure.

I can attest that this is the way it worked this year. I had clients booked on the July 6th Baltic. Military rates came out on May 15th. Because they were well within the 90 days out and already paid in full, I called Disney before I let them know about the discount, just in case.

There were no penalties, they just switched them to the discount and they ended up with a refund on their credit card of more than $13,000 for their two cabins.:banana:

Just wondering if anyone can give an idea of how much the military discounts usually are???

Thanks!

It really varies. Sometimes they are a set amount like 25% off. Sometimes they are discounts on certain categories and they are huge!

My parents sailed on the 11 night April 24 Med cruise this year for $2300 for two people in a verandah. Huge discount!

You can get an idea yourself on DCL's website. Just pretend to do a booking without a code and then go back and input the MTO discount code to check the military discount. Compare the 2 prices and you can get an idea of what types of discounts can be offered for a sailing.

I just tried this so I could see if the military discount has become available for our cruise and cannot find where to put in the code. Where does it go? Thanks!

Towards the top of the DCL home page hover over "Search for a Cruise", then click on "Find a Cruise", and then you imput the info asked for and you will see a box "Booking Code (Optional)" and that's where you put in the MTO code.

Wow...that's impressive. Also good to know they didn't penalize for the military rate switch even after the 90 day mark.

We have decided to try to go either way but will wait and book closer to time and keep our fingers crossed that they either do a KSF or preferably an MTO.

Worked perfectly- thank you! No discounts for our cruise (yet). :rolleyes1

I knew I loved DC, that was pretty nice of them. I still don't think I will chance booking the Med cruise for next summer without the discount out though. I just can't afford it without eating into our future home savings. My fingers are crossed though because I REALLY want to go! We had a blast.

I agree, it was very nice of DCL. Realizing you don't have to save as much money as you thought is great, but getting a huge refund on money you've already spent? Awesome!:)

I hope they come out in time for you!

You are welcome. Just keep checking, you never know. I believe they usually post new discounts on Monday or Tuesday. So it's best to check early in the week.
