Anyone Remember When... - Memories From Early VMK

I miss all of these things.. especially the old Fireworks!


But some of the new stuff is cool too, however not as cool as those old teleporter games!

I remember the first summer VMK opening. With the whole 'merry=marry' thing. We shall never be able to say Merry Christmas ever again

I also remember the Pin Trading Room events were players would have to create a room for pin trading and "judges" would go from room to room and pick out which ones were the best.

First, I would add: I remember "the days Front used to post every day"!! So wonderful to see you posting again gf!

As to the Pin Trading Room events.. I never have considered myself creative enough to ever make a "winning" room. So I remember being in the "keep them open" group!! As a "pack" we all traveled from one DIS person's room to the next, waiting in each room until staff dropped by. Then we would all travel to the next that had not had staff visit yet. You had to have any room at capacity to even get it to register on the pop room list to qualify to get a staff visit.

i also miss being new. When i was new and i got on VMK i would always think in my head. yes! time to go to my room and make a guest room. And then when i finished with the guest room i would sit and admire it. I miss the old days so much. It would be great to see VMK have a ' Bring Back Retro ' Day. Where for just one day, VMK brings back the greatest things. But i dont think that could ever happen. Fireworks, Monorail, and other stuff like that. And there was alot less scamming going on too. When i joined i dont think i ever been a victim of the scamming. Its pretty cool to remember the first days you joined VMK. Besides, it was alot more fun to make a guest room back then because you could buy alot more stuff. Now most stuff is probably beta, or rare, or retired. Ned Shop to me turned into a flea market. Its so boring. They have nothing good in my opinion.


VMK Bring Back Beta Days!!

Here's my idea of what they could do. They could keep their updates, games, scamming, and everything else for players who want them, and also have the original VMK (something like right after Christmas of '05) for those of us who miss a lot. I personally almost never play anymore, because I would only come on for fireworks, pirates, talking to friends, and making some rooms. But now, there is a new fireworks, pirates, people who don't want to be your friends for the right reason, and they've discontinued stuff. To me, it's not fun to trade away infernos (yes, I've traded infernos for stuff I needed) on rooms with pirate quest and cool-looking things they've discontinued.

What I miss is hanging out on the corner of VMK central. We could not say street gang. So I titled it street cans.

And my first friend on VMK bezoar.

I was so poor then since I was lousy at fireworks I thought 28,000 was a good score LOL. Took me 8 months to get a fireworks magic pin. Sad; one of the happiest days of my life when I finally got 240,000. I had never played computer games and mario racing and golf (pong ROFL)was my whole gaming experience lol.

I sure miss the old fireworks can not play the new one and avoid it at all costs.

I miss not seeing 500 on line. and 150 friends meant you knew 1/4 of the players lol.

One thing I do not miss is seeing Yavn. Though I tried I have never met him in the game. Though remember spending hours in his room in hopes he would come back lol.

I miss how easy it was to go to traders. I do not go there much anymore to much hassle and time.

Yup I do miss the old days. The thrill of trying to get into a host game and not dc and feel you were a winner just for getting there.

But enjoy the new things in VMK. The VMK pass and ghosts
But over all I miss my friends from the old days very few play now.

Oh I so remember this. Lets date ourselves, I believe this was Sept/Oct of 2005. I began to meet more and more Dis peeps this way, then started to play way too much.

I loved when people asked questions and you could actually help them, my friends list was not full then. I could add them to my list and create long lasting friendships.

I can remember the first time we saw Halloween, how sad is that I was stuck in work and could not wait to see it. Mind you I was extremely poor and did not buy much, but made an awesome friend who helped me with my spending issues.

That right there is the best thing out of VMK, with the good and the bad, I have made the greatest friends and have been friends with them for a long time now.

PS - Belle I still have pictures (in VMK) of Dis Alex and the girls. hehe

I've always been so lousy at Fireworks that I used to hope that better Players would DC during the game to bump me up!! Bad karma, I know, and I guess I'm paying for it now. Heh heh.
I miss the old Pirates game sometimes. It was relaxing to play against the computer, since I knew what each ship's moves would be.
And I'm one of the lucky ones who won Inferno for spinning a single correct number on a random number generator!!! Ah, those were the days!

Yes, I am one of the lucky ones too, whom also spun the right number back on that Halloween 2005 day! I even remember it had to be a 4. I sat here with friends in IM, as we all waited as much as 8 hours to get into either the host room for that game, or one of the instances of Castle Forecourt, for the outfit contest. There was no "fast pass" then either, so there was nothing you could do. Thank heavens for both IM and the DIS boards! (All that ranting about DC's that we all needed to express! )

i think bringing every thing back for on day or even for 1 hour would be awesome. make it so you can buy any thing u want go any where u want. even if this was un-anounced. that would be awesome just to make it fell like old times again. and make the staff where what ever they want. like a undercover staff! that would be great a under cover staff. that would cut done on scamming, just to have a person that looks like every on else come into a room, and watch. then if something goes wrong just baned them, or what ever they do. sorry for getting off topic a little, but i wish it would happen. ok for real now i will shut up
