We were going down memory lane last night and I seem to remember this show called "Family". I think it was from the late 70's or 80's. The problem is I can't remember any of the actors! I think there was a young girl around 12 who became a famous actress. She had older brothers if I remember correctly. Anyone remember this show? I've been looking online for info but everytime I type in "Family", I get nothing. It would help if I knew some of the actors from the show! Thanks!

Yes, I remember that program. I know Willy was the brother. I also know Meredith Baxter Birney played the older sister who did not live in the house and had a child.

Sorry, can't help you on the rest. Oh yeah, Sada Thompson played the mother!:Pinkbounc

I remember the show! :)

Seems to me Kristy McNikole played the youger daughter and Meredith Baxter Birney played the oldest. . . and Matthew Broderick's dad played the dad. . and maybe Sadie thompson? played the mom?

That's the best I can do on one cup of coffee . . LOL!!! ;) :teeth:

Sada Thomspon was the mother, Kristie McNichols(sp) was the younger daughter, and Matt Brodericks dad played the dad. That is if my memory serves me correctly. I loved that show!

The younger daughter was named Quinn something-or-other, I believe.

Shoot, maybe not. Kristy McNichol definately was on that show, but who was Quinn? I can see her face, maybe she was on another show.

Right Snoops!! :) :) :)

Then as I recall the ratings started slipping and they brought in "Urkele" as the wacky neighbor, and that was pretty much the end of the show. . . ;) :teeth:

I used to watch it when I was a kid. Wasnt her name Buddy on the show?? Or maybe it was the brother but I keep thinking it was her.

snoopy.....the name Quinn Cummings keeps popping into my mind for some reason. Was she on that show or was it something else?

Kim

Quinn was on the show "Family" for the last two seasons I think. Check out the link I posted above. When I saw the picture, I recognized her right away!

Kristy McNichol played Buddy, the youngest daughter of Sada Thompson & Mr. Broderick. She was the younger sister of the characters played by Gary Frank & Meredith Baxter-Birney. Near the end of the show's run they brought in Quinn Cummings (she was the child in the movie 'The Goodbye Girl') and she didn't play another daughter, she was either a niece or the child of a friend who ended up living with the Lawrence's.
Kinda scary that I have all that useless info floating around in my head isn't it?

LOL @ Urkele!! I thought the trip to Hawaii pretty much did this show in...;)

Actually - we watched it pretty regularly. Sada Thompson character really bothered me! I used to tune in just to see what she'd be up to!

<font color=navy>I remember watching that show as a young teen - I really enjoyed it at the time.

But then, I liked the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie...

and that other show in the 90's -- what was it? The one where the dd (the one you used to be a soap opera star & I think she went back to soaps?) went to live with her father, and had the daughter & son who had Down's syndrome? I used to like that show, too.

Travis was about 1 when this program started in 1976. I always liked it, especially the Mom :)

A mom (who's female), a dad (who's male) and three kids.

Ee-gads!!! What is the world coming too?!!

:jester: (Sorry, got carried away there. )

Life Goes On.....Kelli Martin was Becca. I used to watch that show all the time too. I liked it when Chad Lowe joined the show has her bf.

A memorable show for me was one where an old friend of Sada Thompson's character came into town. This friend was very successful in the theatre and soon drew Buddy into that world. Soon, Buddy's welfare was at stake as she planned to go into the theatre like the friend, against Buddy's best interests. The climax was an argument between the two women and what was best for buddy. Sada was at a disadvantage because she had left her career and devoted her life to her family. But she managed to triumph.

II've always liked Meredith Baxter-Birney. I heard that the man who played the father died several years ago.
