Hi Guys

Was reminissing on another thread about a new years trip i had to DLP cant quite remember the year could have been 96?
Basically its when it was the coldest i ever remeber it being.

All the water falls in the park steadly became more frozen? By the end of the trip the whole of the water fall on the Castle was frozen solid and the water fall on the Skull was the same!?

I'm going to dig my pictures to add to this thread does anyone have anymore to compare?
:dance3:

I just posted a msg about this where you mentioned it before, i hope it was just a bad year and not the usual temps?

my other post in reply about it:

ohh please, please tell me those temps are a bit exagerated? i read it was cold but i didnt relise THAT cold i was expecting a few degrees colder than here and wondered why everyone was on about wearing ski jackets. Now im scared

Ha ha no temps not exaggertaed. I was only 10 at the time and it was freezing i'll dig out the pictures to show you all its was mental. We were staying at the Santa Fe at the time and every day week checked the temp in the reception every morning and we got mulled wine when we came back from the park on the night! This was in the time where we had propper winters though so a doubt it will be this cold now i've been since around the same time and its was chilly with a bit of snow so dont worry but i'd still wrap up warm plenty of layers!

I'll find the pic's this weekend!

Well I certainly hope it's not going to be that cold!!

we went dec last year, never been so cold!:scared1: it was between -5 and -7 degrees, all waterfalls in the park were frozen, the waterwheel at swiss family treehouse had at least inch wide ice around each spoke (will add pics later) we were going out in underwear, thermals, t-shirt, trousers, jumper. thermal socks, normal socks, coat, gloves, scarves and we were still cold!!!

but was fab and we loved it!!!:rotfl:

Cant wait to add my pic's I couldn't believe the temp it was either that length of time ago,(it was when we have propeer winters)its crazy but i remember being so cold and my mum telling me again only a few weeks ago, and i remeber it was bad weather here 2 when we flew from Manchester Birmingham!
It wont be that cold this year though, wonder if we'll ever get proper winters again?!
:confused3

I went when I was about 8 and the waterfalls were all frozen over and there was thick snow over all the tables, chairs, bins, etc.

At least we could have snowball fights!

My mum's work colleague went one year and not only was the lake frozen solid, but, one morning it took them until after 11 am to get quite a few rides working in the Park as the mechanics on some of the rides had frozen up apparently!!!

I personally couldn't really stand it that cold - hate the cold here and that's bad enough!!! brrrrr!

Wow, great pics. Yeah, would be nice for taking fantastic pictures but personally, I wouldn't want it to be THAT cold, esp with little ones around lol. Brrrrrrrrrrr!!

i agree for the little ones but only me and my boyfriend go, and it gives us a good excuse to stop for tea/hot choc and cookies/mickey brioche!

I expect you've got the year right, 1996 was a very cold winter. :cold: I remember because I was pregnant with my youngest DD, I don't think we've had such a cold winter in the UK since!

When we went to DLRP for Christmas 2005 the weather was in double figures when we arrived and I thought we'd wasted our money on thermals. Within 48 hours it had dropped to -8 and I thought that was cold enough! Brrrrr, I don't think I'd like it as cold as -21!!
