DS got a Sea Monkey starter kit as a birthday present. Unfortunately, he decided to set up his tank without adult supervision, and accidentally spilled all his Sea Monkeys down the drain. He's heartbroken, and wants to order more.

So, mom is online trying to find out about Sea Monkeys.

Anyone with any experience?

I grew sea monkey as a kid. Here's a tip: they don't actually wear little crowns and have big cartoon eyes. They look like tiny bugs...

Actually, my younger brother ate a packet of sea monkeys when he was a kid. He thought it was a dried fish (bonito) topping that Japanese folks put on rice. We were eating dinner and smelled something kinda... fishy. He was happily shaking his sea monkey packet over a bowl of rice and shoveling it into his mouth.

Needless to say, I couldn't finish my dinner. I turned a little green and just watched. I didn't tell him what he was doing of course. That'd have ruined the fun.

Deb, on a more serious note, if you can't find what you're looking for, let me know. I see those kits all over the city, all different size tanks, kits, etc... I can always pick one up for you if don't have any luck.

You can buy them at toys'r us and science stores. Some disser on here has told in the past about drinking her sea monkeys. It might be in her tag too.
Does anybody remember the tv show. Howie Mandel was in it.

:crazy2: about your little bro, Rick!! (By the way, how DID they taste?)

I'll look around in some science places here, and I can order them online if I have to, but thanks for the offer!

How long do Sea Monkeys last, anyway?

I have no idea what they tasted like. Apparently little bro thought they were pretty darn tasty though. :crazy2:

You know my Sea Monkey never looked like the family that was on the package. :confused3 :confused3

I have seen them at TArget and Toyrus.

I have actually found some kits that have the same type of things as seasmonkeys but they grow alot bigger. If I remember the name I will post them here.

Well, the are dried shrimp after all..I think. :rotfl2: Sounds like they'd be pretty tasty to me. I wonder if you could use them instead of bonito in some recipes? :rotfl:

i remember BEGGING for these when i was younger..
we just did them with the class i teach over the summer as a science experiment--they loved it!

They sell them at Target. I think they're about $7-9. I bought several for gifts one year. Good luck!

I saw a kit with them at walmart last weekend. although they weren't called sea monkeys, I forget what the package said.....

they are actually brine shrimp. I believe...

Sea monkeys do have their own website where you can order more monkeys and food and water conditioner. I know because I had to order more food when those little buggers lasted over 4 years!

4 years!!!! Wow, it will be a miracle if DS keeps his alive that long, seeing that the first batch lasted all of 5 days . . . :earseek:

Mine all had little crowns and tiaras! They were quite fetching!
:goodvibes

LOL Rick! You rock! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I had them. I bought them at the Shell Factory in N. Ft. Myers, Florida. I really thought they were going to have crowns and bug eyes and sit on lounge chairs just like on the package. ;)

Mine never even came "alive". They looked like fish food, just floating around in the water. :rotfl:

You can also buy them live at the pet store. They are called Brine shrimp. I used to feed them to my sea anemone! :)
