Anyone refuse to go into Walmart? *Updated figures on Page 1*

I hate WalMart and only go there as an absolute last resort. They come in and force out the smaller businesses. We are in a rural area so don't have many choices, but it is the last.

To show what a monopoly that WalMart has....I read in an article that WalMart is the #1 retailer, Home Depot is #2. The kicker is that WalMart makes in 3 months what Home Depot makes in a year. That shows the distance between WalMart and everyone else.

The article also went on to talk about how WalMart pretty much sets their own prices and the vendors can like it or lump it. Companies have to put up with WalMart's tactics b/c, of course, they want their products carried by WalMart.

I actually shop Wal-Mart fairly regularly. I've had no problems with the store being junked up. I'm not particularly loyal to it or anything, but if they have the best price on things I'll certainly shop there. Plus, it's convenient for me to stop by on my way to/from work. I like Target as well, and have shopped in other Toy Stores depending on my needs, but for me, Wal-Mart is a viable option as well. I will say that I very rarely buy clothes at Wal-Mart. I prefer independent stores for clothes.

Sadly where I live the super wal-mart is the only major place to shop. Our nearest Target is 40 minutes away. We try to head over there as much as possible, but sadly there are some times when all we can do is go to the wal-mart here:( Also it doesn't help that we nixed our ford explorer for a mustang. now we have almost NO trunk room so we can't load up at Target like we used to.

I detest the Walmart near my home. It is always trashed, the lines are long and they always seem short staffed. They are now converting it to a Super Center and I can only imagine that will make an already bad situation worse!

I must be in the minority because I shop at a Wal-Mart near us and a Super Wal-Mart a little further away. Great prices make up for a little inconvenience. Parking lot full? Just means an opportunity for a little exercise! Long lines? An opportunity to practice patience. Never had a problem finding a staff person to help, but then I can usually find 99 44/100% of everything I want or need easily.

I don't believe in boycotting or trashing a store simply because it is successful. It must be doing something right to be successful in the first place.

If I go to Wal Mart I only go early in the morning, never in the middle of the day and NEVER on the weekends. I do most of my shopping at BJ's, Stop & Shop and a local supermarket. I hate Target.

I agree with one of the earlier posters who found the their retaliation against unionization to be offensive. There is an interesting book called "Nickel and Dimed" that's worth reading to get a sense of what working at a Wal-Mart is like.

The Wal-Mart near me (Princeton, NJ) is so jam-packed with people that a quick corner with your cart could be life-threatening. Last time I was in there, the store wasn't so bad, but the bathroom was past the point of offensive. I wouldn't go back in there without two cans of Lysol and a gas mask. Give me Target seven days a week before Wal-Mart once.

Here's 2 quick stories from me about wal-mart:

1) I used to work @ the super wal-mart here and it was NOT fun. I had the 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. grocery stocking job. No matter how well our crew did, we were never "good" enough. We were constantly threatened with our jobs and the like. and as far as unionization goes, I had a bumper sticker that read clearly "UNION? YES!" and as a sort of protest I put it on the front of my shirt. I was told I had to either take it off or get fired. I needed the job then so I took it off.

2) *kinda gross* A female friend of Tanya's used the restroom there about 2 years ago and managed to contract herpes from the toilet seat. I NEVER EVER use the bathrooms there.

I hate Wal-Mart, but the prices are better than our Target.

Our new Target has a grocery store so to save time I do all of my shopping there now. I don't mind spending a little more for the time it saves me.

The last time I went in our Wal mart I walked out leaving my wagon behind. First I hate going in there because you have to wait 45 minutes in line. But I needed dog food so I thought as long as I only get 10-20 items I can go to the quick check. Well this woman was in the quick check line with a wagon filled to the hilt and the line was a mile long. I thought there is no way they will let her thru this line....but when it was her turn....he just started ringing her up. Thats when I walked out of line and out the door leaving my wagon right there. I have't been back since....don't plan to. The thing is while all these lines are so long there are still many not opened.

I try not to. They treat their employees horribly, and their stores are always dirty and unorganized.

The last straw for me was hearing about the "dead peasant" policies they have on their workers, which is just disgusting.

Wow!:).

I'll go in Wal-Mart occasionally for toiletries, etc., but I come out frustrated probably 75-80% of the time - Mostly because of poor service. I shop at SuperTarget every week, though. No problems there.

I'm glad they have the automated doors now, I use to hate touching the doors walking in.

We were at our first ever Super Walmart grocery shopping and the store was so disorganized. It had products scattered everywhere, like cans next to toilet paper. After doing a few circles and back tracking, my husband looks at me and goes "lets bail". We all started laughing so hard, it was a "had to be there moment."

I wouldn't let him and I checked out. It took over 30 minutes to stand in line and to checkout.

When we went to FL we stopped at the Super Walmart, it took over 30 minutes again to check out. They scan, then put it in bags. Scan, Bag,, Scan, Bag so slowwwwwwwwww.

I LOVE Walmart! We have a new one about 20 mins from my house. It is a beautiful store. Not a SuperWalmart, though. There is always an abundance of cashiers and employees around to help out. The store is very CLEAN. The prices at Walmart can't be beat. The same cereal that is $1.98 at Walmart is $3.40 at the grocery store.

Target on the other hand is much higher priced. The sale price on juice boxes was still more than the regular price at Walmart.

Sorry to see so many negative Walmart posts. Now don't get me started about SuperK!

Our Super Wal Mart is fine. They could have a few more checkers on duty at times. I shop there because I can save $25 - $50 a week on my grocery bill. I'd love to shop elsewhere but right now can't afford to.

I buy my son's jeans there. He likes the Faded Glory brand. You can't beat the price and sometimes they are knocked down to $10 from $15. He refuses to look for anything else there clotheswise through. I buy some clothes at Wal Mart for the rest of my family too. You just have to be aware of what you buy. I've found some clothes there better made and better material than what I've found at Kohl's.

I get tired of walking "all" over the store, it's so big. But I can use the exercise.

Walmart is usually so crowded, I don't go there very often.

I'd rather go to Target, or even KMart.

I'm a Target girl all the way. I've only been to a Walmart once (or maybe twice), and I found the place really disorganized and depressing.

I love Target. Go there all the time. I haven't been to Walmart in so long, and I don't miss it.

Target is so clean and organized and Walmart is just a mess.
