My husband and I are taking the parents to WDW next Thursday and checking into BWV on Friday. Can someone who has recently been there tell me about construction? I am concerned that our "Preferred view" will not be so preferred. This is the first trip for the parents and wanted it to be something special. I'm hoping that we won't be disappointed in the BWV as we have stayed there before and really love it.

We just got back a couple of weeks ago. I think they do a very decent job of keeping the construction out of your way. We had a preferred view (1 br, room 3102) and there was no construction to see from our view. We faced the quiet pool and community hall. The Luna Pool views were unobstructed as well.

They have white mesh covering all the scaffolding, so that makes what could be really ugly a lot more pleasant. We never heard any noises associated with the construction, but we were gone during the day most of the time.

I doubt seriously that you will be affected by the construction. I think Disney is doing there best to make sure it doesn't bother their guest. I've heard that they don't even book rooms with construction going on around them, but I can't say for sure.

Hope this helps!

We just returned from a 10 night stay two days ago. We booked a standard room for the first time, and had a 2 bdr. I think you will have a better shot at getting what you want than those wanting standard views. We estimated that about a third of the rooms available were covered with scaffolding as they were painting and it was almost all standard view rooms. It looked to us like they had already completed the Luna Park pool area and the forward facing Boardwalk view. The side Boardwalk view by the courtyard and the art gallery had not been done yet. We asked for a canal view, but got a 4th floor view to the side of the entrance. Last year we had a Boardwalk view so I thought I would be disappointed but I have to say for the points saved, we were very happy. Hope you get what you want and have a good trip!

hi: just got back on thursday from a short little getaway. we overlooked the quiet pool. we liked all of the views we've had so far both in standard and preferred views. we've never gotten the elusive boardwalk view though-even when booked at 11 months out. don't let a little thing like the view upset your vacation.

We just got back from a 5 night stay at the BCV (I'll post a report later if I have the energy!), and we took several walks over to the BWV while we were there.

As of yesterday (Friday) the only major renovation that seemed to be visible was along the MGM walkway side, facing the S/D. From what we could tell, almost nobody at the BWV will have their view affected by it. Guests staying at the Swan have a much greater risk of looking out and seeing the scaffolding!

That said, the work and workmen are not invisible. But they really seem to try to keep things as quiet and unobtrusive as possible. And the wonderful BW ambience is still there.

Judging from previous posts, they seem to be moving things around quite a bit. You may want to call and see if they can tell you what is happening where, and when. And of course, when you check in, let them know about your concern. Don't worry, have fun, enjoy! We did!
