Anyone Receive 25% Off Voucher Yet?

Missing about $200 from your refund? Hmmmmm .. Coincidence or maybe DCL's way of covering all those $200 obc's? Sorry, I'm kidding around .... I hope!

I sure hope you get your $200 ASAP. I think that is important and that number one you are a very nice person and number two you are a very good DCL/Disney customer. They do not realize who they are messing with.

Wishing everyone the best to get the mess cleared up.

If you don't mind me asking - who was/is your TA for the 9/4 cruise? My TA claims he hasn't received it.

I went through a local travel agent in Louisville KY.

TA says he's working on it. I hope I get the full amount back.

I called DCL as soon as I got back from the 9/18 sailing because, quite frankly, I don't trust my travel agent to send me my 50% off voucher. The CM told me not to worry if I don't get it, all I need to do is call them and they will apply it to my ressie. Apparently they have it in their system who gets what voucher, discount, etc. It has also been explained to me that DCL sets the "base price" of the cruise fare (not including taxes and port charges) and 50% is taken off that. So basically if you're calling around for the cheapest TA, you're wasting your time. The TA can offer a further, but very small, discount after the voucher is applied, but don't expect them to discount their cheapest rate by using the voucher. BTW, you can book directly with DCL, and after they apply the voucher, you can still switch it to a TA. I hope this is all making sense.

I got my voucher, and on it it also stated that I would have to mail it in after I make my reservation with a certain code. And until they receive the mailed in voucher the discount won't apply.
Anyone else has this?

Does the voucher list the dates on which it is inapplicable? If not, how do you know which dates you can use it for?

Marcy

No, the voucher does not specifically list the dates for which it is inapplicable. What it does say regarding dates is:
"This offer is valid for a 3-, 4-, or 7- night cruise only vacation package with Disney Cruise Line commencing prior to October 1, 2005 excluding peak and holiday sailings."
"To redeem this offer, you must book your client's vacation prior to December 31, 2004, by contacting our Disney Cruise Line Reservation at 1-800-511-1333."

That's it. Everyone knows what peak and holiday sailings are. Right? But, just in case you don't know when you can use it for DCL and your travel agent would tell you when you try to make the booking for an inapplicable date.

What it did say in the September 10, 2004 Navigator was:
"To take advantage of Disney Cruise Lines wonderful offer of 25% off your next cruise we recommend waiting until you return home to book. Once you have received your voucher at home, please call our toll free dedicated Castaway Club line 1-800-449-3380. This offer far exceeds any previous onboard offers (which are non-combinable) Therefore no cruises will be sold onboard this cruise."

I guess cruises commencing October 1, 2005 and later were not being booked onboard prior to that cruise. Those cruise dates after October 1, 2005 must have just been released for booking just recently with the 2006 dates.

DCL is a business and they need to protect themselves from the potential losses caused by these types of wonderful offers. Someone has to impose restrictions, even though the consumer doesn't realize it, in order for the company to stay profitable and wonderful at the same time. :D:D :D

I got mine about a week ago...I sent it in yesterday to be applied to my November cruise. :)

I'm not sure what peak dates are (although I can figure out holiday). I assume summer vacation, but when are the spring break peaks? Is winter break considred a peak time?

Oh, and I'm not faulting DCL for these restrictions -- I'm just wondering in a very selfish, when-can-I-cruise-with-my-coupon sort of way. :D The way I see it, that 25% off was a huge extra perk for us -- they had me at 40% off current cruise fare.

Marcy

I'm sure no one is faulting DCL for whatever restrictions they set for whatever offers they make.

I got got almost 50% off my re-scheduled 9/4 cruise for almost 50% of the cruise. No better or no worse off than before the cruise. I'd say I about got what I paid for strictly in terms of dollars. Frustration is an entire other matter. lol

Well, my TA emailed me to advise that he'd rec'd my voucher & that he's mailing it to me. I should receive it sometime this wk.

It's interesting that all of a sudden he rec'd my voucher...a few hrs I had told him that I'd spoken to a DCL supervisor who had confirmed that one was mailed to him w/ my name on it.

Wow, I didn't know that DCL applies the discount as soon as they receive the voucher back. I thought they'd gave the credit after the cruise!!! I guess it's always good to be surprised, huh?

I just don't understand why this voucher deal has to be so complicated. With technology as advanced as DCL has it, why not simply automatically apply the 25% when we make the reservation? Mine was sent to Tx [to TA], he has to mail to me in PA, now I have to give to my AAA agent, who will then mail it back to DCL. Is it me or is this silly?

I could have had a typo on these dates, I wasn't able to copy and paste them, so I retyped them. Maybe this will help give people and idea of when they can and can not use the vouchers.

I don't know how 'regular' season figures into all of this. I was on the Sept. 18th cruise and I don't think any of us have gotten our vouchers yet (they said in 3 weeks). We are suppose to get a 50% off voucher.

Sorry, I was being a wise guy on a previous post when I implied everyone knows what the peak and all that cruise times are ... bad habit.

The list you just posted is the only thing I've ever seen. I think its really DCL decides.

I booked my cruise for March 19th (peak). It is the only week that we can go. Figuring the 25% discount is already costing me $2000 more than my cancelled 9/4 cruise. I don't have $2000 but thought that I could work OT to help pay for the extra $$$$$. If Disney doesn't give me the discount, that will be an extra $3000 above and beyond my refund!!!! I think our Disney Cruise dreams are going to end up being just that..........................dreams.

:(

Has anyone called and asked about dates they can use their voucher?

We have a 4 night Wonder cruise booked for Dec. 19, 2004. I called and they looked it up and said that yes, I could use the voucher for that cruise (haven't gotten it yet, but hoping another week or two).

Maybe before booking, you could call and have someone look up the cruise and check. When I called she did pull up the information and look over it before she confirmed that I could use my voucher on that cruise.

I am hoping that doesn't change. We already had this Dec. 19th cruise planned and we aren't planning to go in 2005. So if we are going to get to use the voucher this is the cruise we have to use it on.

Good Luck everyone!

Yay! I got mine & used it!
I booked a January 9th 4 night Wonder for $1435.00 Navigator's Verandah for three of us.
I was supposed to be on the Sept. 4th canceled cruise.
can't wait!!
I fely weird about sending in the original copy to Disney. It isn't like anyone else could use it anyway, since it has the original resv. # my name & address on it.
I hope it doesn't get lost in the mail. Even my TA didn't like the idea of sending in the original copy.:sunny:
