I am putting together my packing list and the thought came to water. Now in the Florida heat I know I will need alot of water but I really don't like many brands and was thinking of bring it from home, now that was fine when we thought we where driving but we have decided to fly.

So my question is what anyone put a case of water in their checked luggage??? Is this allowed??? I figured I would put it in our small suitcase with a few beach towels on the outsides??? Has anyone done this???? BTW we are flying SW.

Thanks

yes I have done it, two years ago. POland spring bottles throughout the clothes, and I also put capri sun juice bags throught the luggage. they did not open and I had all the drinks I needed upon arrival and had to actually bring somehome. We did not have a car so with a one and two year old I needed to do this or spend an arm and a leg on beverages for the week. good luck

Yes, we flew SW headed to the Disney Cruise. I was pregnant (and had previously had a bad experience with the ship water on deck 9), so I wanted bottled water, and figured I'd save a few $$.

Huge mistake. It was HEAVY, it was overweight for SW, but they let it go through without charge (it was off season and the plane was only 1/2 full).

So after lugging around the heavy suitcase, I decided it is definately worth it to just buy bottled water at your destination...even if it's Evian.

You could always use wegoshop to deliver a case to your room...we have done that as well.

Hi There~

May I Suggest, Putting In A Box, & Mailing It To Your Hotel Fedex Ground.

I Did This Last Nov, For My Disney Cruise Ship. The Package Was, Actally There Before My Luggage.

I Did It Again, This Past Feb. This Time, I Mailed It To Our Hotel. I Planned For It To Arrive A Day After Our Arrival. It Did, & It Was Great. I Also Put In The Box, My Nail Clippers, Tape, Baggies & Some Other Things That I Was Afraid Of Getting Stopped Thru The Airport.

Any Questions, About This, Ask Away.

Thanks

Patricia

There are some airlines (don't remember which ones now though) that are clamping down on allowing liquids in the checked baggage. Their reasoning, due to the pressure differences if one were to leak then it would not only get your stuff wet but other passengers as well. I guess they have had people complain too much and so they are slowly doing away with it.

Carrying the water in your carry on bags is still permited though.

Thanks everyone.

I called SW and they said it is allowed but suggested putting it in a plasitc bag or zip locks.

Not sure if I am going to do this or not, I really only like a few brands of water...sounds silly I know...best part is it is the cheap stuff I like not the expensive stuff.....lol

Thanks again

Purtypat1, I am curious on how much it cost you to send the water to florida?
Sounds like a great idea, but by the time you buy a big box, supplies, and the water is it really worth it?

Yes, we did it last year. We flew down on Continental and had about 24 bottles of Poland Spring water in our suitcase. I placed all of them in large Ziploc bags, just in case they burst. They all were fine and we enjoyed them all week in the parks. And yes, the suitcase was heavy. Hope this helps you... :wave2:

I did this two years ago also. I had one large suitcase with the bottled water and some other snack items. Sure the luggage was heavy, but on the return trip we had extra room for everything we bought during our trip.

I am with you. I love the generic water. I am bringing 2 coolers full of H2o. I am checking it in. It is the colaspable cooler I hope it will do well with water. I am brining enough water for a family of 6. I am also checking in 2 loafs of bread and bagels in a cooler.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I looked at it that way also. Now I will have a empty suitcase for the souvies we just have to have....lol

Have a great day
