I see alot of DVC for sale posting on ebay. Some from Timeshare store and some from individuals. Anyone purchased on ebay from an indivual seller ? Just curious how effective is ebay in selling DVC?

I wouldn't buy that way if you paid me for it.

AS Disney gets the final say in the process, you might just get through the whole process and find out that Disney won't let you have those points. Even if you don't have to put money up for it (then again it is eBay and I bet they will want money up front) you will have lost time on the matter. And if you do put money up front, and Disney doesn't approve, can you get your money back?

Disney wouldn't approve because it's on ebay? Even if it was priced right, it still gets ROFR ?

I would strongly recommend buying through a licensed real estate broker like The Timeshare Store. (We've bought through TTS and were very pleased with their professionalism.)

If you do, any payments you make will be held in escrow until closing by a reputable company in a tightly-regulated industry, and you'll have no problem getting your money back if the sale doesn't go through for some reason.

Sure, you could arrange things through a seperate escrow company, closing company, etc, etc, but why bother? And why would you want to explore a major purchase like this without the assistance and expertise of a realtor who specializes in DVC resales and knows all the nuances?

As a buyer, you are going to pay the same price either way. You have to pay a price high enough to clear ROFR, and you're not paying a penny in commission. Why would you go through eBay?

No. That is neither what Conan said nor meant.

Disney doesn't care how a sale is made. They ROFR based on the price, not how the sale originated.

The man has spoken.:listen:

Ironically most of the DVC listings I've seen on EBAY are from TSS :rotfl:

Like PPs have said, you're much better off just going thru a more established and well known commodity like TSS, and it would make life a lot easier going thru them (TSS) directly than via Ebay.

That's funny because I must have walked past the "Disney's Best Kept Secret" booths a hundred times during previous vacations, and I ended up learning about DVC on ebay. :rotfl:

I did buy resale through TTS.

I too bought from TTS, but just wondering how effective is selling it on ebay- lower commission...:goodvibes

I've bought a Starwood ski week(Beaver Creek, CO) and a Bluegreen fixed week(N. Mich) off of Ebay and things were the sellers were great.

Now don't ask me about BG's title department, as myself and the closing company would have liked to visit them and bang some heads together. :headache:

Starwood week, I was in the system in 60 days!

Both weeks(2br's) cost me with a total of $9500, plus I got 2 free banked weeks with the BG week. One of those free weeks banked in RCI nabbed me a 2br for July 2010 in HI.

I would have no problem buying a week/points that have to go through ROFR off some of the Ebay buyers I like.

Anyone try to sell their DVC either via TSS or anywhere else and didn't sell at all. Or maybe took too long to sell. I hear some people sell right away and some took months.

If it's what you want, I wouldn't hesitate to buy on ebay if the price were right and other parameters fell into place. I've bought timeshare on ebay. There are some safety considerations but once past those, no reason not to IMO.

What about the people advertising books that say they have secrets about how to save money at Disney? I know I don't need a room discount, because I have DVC but what about tickets? Is there something I don't know on how to save money on tickets other than our discount on AP or UT?

Mostly junk.

I'm not sure I'd try to sell any timeshare on ebay---it attracts a lot of bargain-hunters, and it might be hard to fetch full value, even accounting for the commission.

But, if you go that route, you'll need an independent closing agency---it's common to suggest a company, but let the buyer pick an alterantive that is mutually agreeable if they so desire. I've used Timeshare Transfer as a buyer before. Very competent, easy to work with, and reasonable fees. I don't know for sure that they handle DVC, but I suspect they do.
