Anyone planning a trip for sept-nov 2014?

Me me me!! Our first family trip to Disneyland, San Diego, San Fran, Las Vegas and Honolulu. Very excited been planning for a very long time. Trying to book in Sep 14. Anyone know when the best flights for this time come out?

I have heard about 6 months prior, but I think best just to keep watching as you never know:)

wow so many! that's fantastic :cool1:

Can't wait to hear everyone's plans!!!

Can't believe how many times our plans have changed since I first started planning this trip 6 months ago!

Was talking to DH last night about whether we should spend a few days in either Las Vegas or San Diego and he decided neither - he'd rather spend a week or so in Australia on the way home! 4 of my 6 siblings live all over Aus so he wants us to organise a big catch up while we're over there.

Sooo at the moment our plans are looking like 3 nights LA, 6 nights Disneyland and then a week in either Sydney or Gold Coast, we'll see how long these plans stick for! ;)

We had originally planned for sept this year but due to family stuff we had to delay. Things are in full motion for September 2014. have DCL booked, and waiting for the 11 month window to book DVC (finally took the plunge and bought, so this will be our first time going as members)

Like everyone else I am waiting for the good airfares to go on sale so that I can pounce on them, for a family of six there is no other option but to wait for cheap fares.

I am looking forward to reading everyones plans as it gets closer.

We are booked for the 4 night Bahamas on the 14th September. Its a total surprise to my family, I am not going to tell them about the cruise until we are over there. We have never been on a cruise before so I am a bit nervous. I get sea sick, in truth I get motion sickness just going around round-abouts :worried: but I am still really excited about it.

How long in your cruise for?

So a little bit on our plans, so far we have the outline planned and being a group trip I have broken it up into 3 parts so people can join & depart easily;

Part 1 ~ 7 day Alaskan Cruise on the Wonder
Part 2 ~ on return to Vancouver, remain on-board and sail b2b on the San
Diego reposition cruise
Part 3 ~ traveling from San Diego to Anaheim & Disneyland for 7-10 days (then plan on using Anaheim as a base for day trips etc)

We did the Eastern in 09, that's a great cruise :thumbsup2

We got our cheap flights in 2012 at the flight centre travel expo and I am hoping that the same sort of discount becomes available again for next year. I have registered with a few travel agents waiting to find out about some great deals. If I see any discounted air flights I will post on here so that we can all take advantage of the deal.

That sounds wonderful, the Alaskan cruise was my first option but the days didnt work and the cost was a lot more, I was also worried that the snow and ice would be less amazing in september, though some photos I have seen regarding the current Alaskan cruise atm it still looks amazing. Maybe I can convince DH that we can do that without the kids in 2015 as a very belated honeymoon - 23 years late::yes::

My DH is wanting to do an Alaskan cruise (but then he tells me he wants to also do a RCCL Caribbean cruise LOL)
We did the Western on the Fantasy last year, i'm sort of thinking any Disney cruise is probably a good one
I'd love to do a b2b though.

Getting in early but I bought 6 packing cells from Kathmandu today, 3 for $25 so I got the 6 for $50 (nothing worse than having a suitcase not really full and everything ends up flung around by the time you hit your destination :sad2:
So 11ish months until I can use them

We're doing the Eastern Caribbean 20th Sept

This is the cruise we are planning to be on:)

Everything is still in the initial planning stages at the moment. We are looking at having a couple of days in Las Vegas on the way over (to keep hubby happy), 2 days at Universal Studios & then 8 days at WDW. We'll probably stay in one of the Downtown Disney Hotels. I stayed at the Buena Vista Palace with my DD17 last year & thought the location was fantastic. Then we'll finish our holiday with the 7 day Fantasy cruise. We did a 4 day Dream cruise last year & it wasn't long enough.

I've managed to talk DH into coming back with me. He wasn't keen last time which is why I went with DD.

I've been homesick for WDW ever since we got back and have been working on a plan & budget to get back there next year:cool1:

My DH and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in WDW next September!!
We are flying to Miami for 3 days, Eastern Caribbean cruise for 7 days, 2 days HRH and 7 days WDW.
We are hopefully flying through Dallas Fort Worth so will spend a day or two there on the way home.

I have been planning this trip for about 6 months and am already super excited about it, I just want the next 12 months to fly by!

Greetings ~ I am an excited Grandma about to start planning a surprise trip to Disneyland for my 3 grandkids in August 2014. We are first going to my son's wedding in Canada and then on the way back we hope to surprise them.

Naturally, I have many questions and am so pleased I came across this forum. My first question is this, in what order do I book things? Is it flights first or accommodation, any advice will be greatly appreciated :)

Aww what a lovely Grandma you are! I'm sure your grandkids will love it! And welcome the DIS :wave2:

As far as booking goes, if your dates are fixed, I would just book stuff in when you see good prices. If you have some flexibility with dates, you might find that airfares are cheaper a few days either side of when you were planning to go, so you could be there a few days earlier or later than you'd planned. In that case, it's best to book airfares first so you have some fixed dates to work around for accommodation.

Lucky Grandkids, I am sure if will be a magical holiday for everyone. Welcome to the boards, its a wonderful place.:cheer2:

Thank you for the welcome :)
Now down to business ... experts (and budding experts) when will be the best time to purchase the airline tickets? We (4 adults 3 ch) need to fly to LAX then on to Edmonton, Canada on 01.98.2014. Our Disneyland adventure will be on the way back. Thanks in advance for the input.

I wish I knew. The others might have more of an insight into airline trends with their sales. I know we got our deal for aug/sept 2012 at the flight centre travel expo. Hoping they have another good deal for next year as well. I have joined every airlines email list and a few travel agents ones. Fingers crossed that a good deal comes out soon - I hate the waiting.:sad2:

I spoke to a guy at qantas last week and he told me that every deal any travel agent gets relating to a qantas flight then they will have on their website as well. not sure how true that is but its what he said.

Hopefully someone else may give you more information. good luck:)

I am a travel agent and in all honesty no travel agent or airline has an exclusive deal that cannot be booked by anyone else....so flight centre expo, qantas, expedia etc etc ALL have the same fares, the price difference depends on how much commission they want to make, so for an expo Flight centre might drop their commission to almost zero to get people in
i find sometimes online the airline might have the fare slightly cheaper than when i book through our system but usually not much that i cant match it,
and finally, agents and airlines are lucky if they make $100 per airfare so your never going to save $1000's or even $100's , and no one ever knows when deals are going to be released, they just literally happen!

Thank you for your input.

I have just noticed that on United Airlines the seat configuration is 3 3 3. As we are a family of 4 ad and 3 ch we were hoping for the 3 4 3 configuration. Does anyone know if any airlines still have planes with the 3 4 3?

Also, I am thinking it better for us all to sit up front because of the grandkids as we may get more sympathy from fellow parents traveling with children. My grandchildren will be 6, 5 and 2 at the time. Any suggestions on where, front or back, or how to sit with the 3 3 3 will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
