I must admit we are tempted but still undecided :confused3 We have loved both our DCL cruise - but I don`t know if we would enjoy the med as much.
Have you any plans -any thoughts?

I'm waiting for the announcement on March 21 regarding their itineraries.

I'm kind of excited at the possibility. It would be nice to go on a disney cruise without having to cross the atlantic for it.

Oh yes I would love to go, but it will all depend on cost of course, but Im desparate to see what they have lined up, shouldnt be too much longer now :goodvibes

why do you think you wouldn't enjoy the Mediterranean as much?

Although that's probably difficult to answer since we don't yet know where they're going...

But now that I think about it, I don't think where they go will matter to me one way or the other. Every place is interesting in its own way.

For me, the prospect of being able to go on a DCL cruise without having to make that terribly long trip to get there is absolutely wonderful.
I just hope the timing works out. Planning ahead to 2007 isn't that simple.

I think it`s because we`ve done so much of the med and as much as I like it, it does feel so much more like home. I love the "American" feel with DCL. It`s really hard to put into words.........
Does anyone know when they are taking bookings for this new itinery? TIA.

I'd love to do it without needing to do a big flight, just gonna be very hard as we're already planning to do Vegas/Disneyland next year and maybe DLP too so a 3rd trip will be nigh on impossible. Add on the fact that OH is terrified on being on ships and it's more than 99% certain we won't be. Who do you go through to book these cruises?

Does anyone have any idea what the drinking age limit will be on the cruises? I know the ships are American but with them being in the Med it complicates matters!

I am extremely keen to do this, but sadly with the length of cruise rumoured to be 10 or 11 days I suspect we will be priced out of the market on this occasion, so I have more or less resigned myself to not going.

I know what you mean about the American feel. Although if most of the passengers end up being American, I think you'll still have at least some of that American feel to it.

I think they'll start taking bookings as soon as they make that big announcement. Or very shortly thereafter, within a few weeks.

My guess is they would stick with their standard drinking age (21).

Not sure if sipping cocktails on the beach at Southampton or Calais (amongst the rumoured ports of call) will have quite the same feel as Castaway Cay :lmao:

The legal drinking age aboard will still be 21 (as with princess, Royal Caribbean and the other American lines). Bookings should open April 4, but there is already a long 'waiting' list with various agents. I'd check with Dreams Unlimited as they specialise in DCL and may well be well-placed to help out asap. The home port looks likely to be Marseilles (which would be a big surprise over the likes of Barcelona and Civitavecchia), but there is a lot still up in the air until the official announcement. I think their rates will be all-important as there is much greater competition on Med routes at that time of year and DCL can't offer the likes of Castaway Cay to keep their rates at a premium.

That's what I've heard and i remember reading something in some French thing a while back indicating Marseilles would be involved, so i can't imagine it being involved in any other way than as a home port. But I really hope not. If I have to go to Marseilles, I'll probably pass up on the whole deal. An awful city. I can't think of a worse place in France to have to go, even just to pass through to get on a ship.

Thanks Simon - I`ve been debating getting in touch with DU - I think I`ll do that today.

I think the prices will be a lot more than DCL are currently charging, since port taxes in the Med are considerably more than the Caribbean.

I'd possible be interested if it was ex Southampton but not if a Mediterranean port is used since the baggage allowances are so poor on European fly/cruises.

would be great if it was Southampton as the home port
Or what about here in Ireland even better

we had an american cruise Ship stopping up here in Donegal once a month last year

I think it will be priced on of our pocket

I would love to do this, but can't imagine that we could afford it (better get my lottery ticket this week) :thumbsup2

I agree Mandy. It would be FAB, but way too much for us I suspect. :)

Great article Mandy - thankyou!
Mind you I don`t think crossing the Bay of Biscay is a good idea :sad2:
