I was wondering if anyone on the boards owns one of these. DH and I are thinking of getting DD one.
I'm looking for any info I can. I've read the reviews and visited the Apple site, but I would love to hear from someone who actually has one.

If you could pass on any info, I would be greatful!!:D
Thanks!

I don't own one, but I'd suggest getting a regular Ipod instead. For just 50 more dollars you get a whole 11gigs more, which means pleanty more room for any music she could even imagine. Just my opinion.

tricia.

I would also just get a regular one.

Is your daughter in high school or college. I believe you can get an educational discount through the Apple website. We use the discount for everything we buy from them.

Let me know if you need the link.:D

Thanks for the replys. DD will be a freshman in the fall.

I'll have to check out the regular iPod...I thought it was more $$. Must be they have come down since I first heard of them.

I also thought of the Dell. In the magazine I was reading about them it was a little more $$$. Thought maybe I might be able to get the iPod on sale since they sell it at Best Buy/Circuit City.

Guess I'll keep researching!;) Anyone else with any opinions on Apple or Dell?

The Apple Ipod batteries are known to have a bad rep. If that battery goes out, your S.O.L., because its built in.

Just something to take note of.

That whole "iPod's dirty secret" thing was widely debunked. You can also purchase an extended warranty just for the battery, if you're really concerned about it. The regular Apple Care warranty covers it, though, as does the Best Buy warranty. (The Best Buy one covers total replacement for 4 years, it's a pretty good deal.)

My dad has a Dell MP3 player, which he got because he didn't want to pay the extra money for what basically amounts to looks, and even he admits to jealousy over my iPod. I love it. It's ridiculously easy to use, looks great, is a perfect size, has good sound quality, syncs up with my computer easily, etc etc etc.

I don't know anyone who has an iPod mini, but I've had my eye on a pink or green one to use while exercising. My regular (20 GB) one is just a little bit too large to use with an armband, but I think the mini would be perfect.

Since your daughter's a student, you can probably get education pricing; Through Apple's education store, you can get an ipod mini for $229 or a 15 GB iPod for $269.00.

I looked at the educational discount, but it said you had to be an employee (or something like that). So regular parents can't purchase though it?:( Or did I miss understand?

Thanks...

Will she be a freshman in high school or college?

Just go to the Apple website, click on Store up at the top, then click on education (in the left hand corner of the screen), then it will have a screen asking you if you are shopping for yourself or for your school. Find your school on the list and go from there.

We use the discount for computers, monitors, etc.

If you can't find the discount online just call the Apple Store-they will look it up.

I thought they just started selling iPod this past weekend. I went to the Apple flagship store here, about 3 weeks ago, and they don't have it on display yet. I am thinking about getting one too.

ipods have been out for years. Mini ipods(a smaller form of an iPod) just came out.

She will be a freshman in high school. I'll check it out through your link, floridafam.

Thanks!:)

My DS 14 just got an iPod a few weeks ago and he loves it. Since he was paying for it from his birthday money, we was really torn about a mini or a regular one. We shopped and compared and he went with the 20 GB... better deal in the long run.

We purchased it through the apple store. I am a school employee so I used the discount.

Karen...did you go for the 20GB for space? DD would love the mini. I thought 1,000 songs would be plenty. What was the difference for him? Is the mini out yet? I sort of got the impression it wasn't coming out until April. I would love to get it personalized...it's free for a little while.

Thanks for your response.:)
