Does anyone know if there are lap belts in the 3rd row? My husband has the car right now so I can't check but it seems like there are only over the chest belts. Is that right? Doesn't seem all that safe...

Can anyone confirm?

I didn't think cars were allowed to be manufactured without lap belts?

Out middle seat in second and third rows come from the ceiling and are shoulder and lap belts.

Ours are not. the shoulder belt comes down from the ceiling in ours.

It should just be the middle seat and then you attach it to the lap portion before buckling it. You need a key or something to detach it if you want it to retract all the way back into the ceiling. It that way so when the 3rd row isn't in use the buckles aren't in the way. The middle position gets the benefit of the 3pt harness instead of a lap belt only.

Ok I figured it out. Just the middle doesn't have a lap belt. Thanks for the help :)

Ok, I'm kinda freaked out that you are using the middle buckle improperly so forgive me if you are not.

There is a 'receptor' on the passengers left side that you plug the belt from the ceiling into then you pull the lap/shoulder combo across the body and buckle it on the right side as normal.

This is a photo of a middle row but same concept that I borrowed from the internet.

The small buckle looking thing on the right side of the photo is the receptor then you'd buckle it into the normal looking one with the red button on the left side of the photo making the lap/shoulder 3pt harness.

Here's a photo of an actual 3rd row.

You can see the 3 "normal" receptors with the red buttons. Then there is the smaller black one to the right side of the photo. If you don't immediately see the smaller black one, it might be tucked down into the seats. But I'm sure it is there. Once you attached the ceiling belt to that part, you'll need a key or coin to 'unlock' it.

The middle absolutely has a lap belt. No car has only a shoulder belt in any position.
