I am looking to purchase one to have at home. I was going to put one on lay a way so I can pay it off but the shelves were bare. Any recomendations?

Did you try Wal-Mart? I don't think I have ever seen them out of treadmills. Good Luck!:D

QVC happens to have one as the Today's Special Value today.

Depending on how much you plan to use it should dictate what you are willing to spend. Consumer reports rated TRUE, LANDICE and PRECOR, the highest, but these are serious treadmills upwards of $2,000. I would suggest your local Pennysaver or Bargain news type of place to try and pick up a used one. You are still better off buying a used really good machine than some of the cheaper machines brand new. We just picked up a 3 year old Landice for under $500 using this approach.

I would also steer clear from models that fold up, a good treadmill will weigh somewhere near 300-350 pounds so a fold up one will likely have compromised build materials to save weight.

If you do end up getting one at KMart just don't get the Kathy Ireland manual one. (cheapy) It's a killer! And there's no way to adjust it. My girlfriends and I have been working out together in my basement since the first of the year. We built our own little "curves" down there with all of my excercise equipment that was never used other than to hang clothes on. Anyway, the treadmill is so hard, that we use it as punishment if someone overeats the day before. :crazy2: It's like some kind of barbaric torture device! Haha!

I have one ;)

When I get a chance to take all the laundry off of it I will see what brand it is.

Thanks, I know I don't want a manual one!

We got a Proform 970 from Sam's Club last year for around $850.00. We have jogged or walked on it daily and it has been great.

somewhere - it's very dusty in the basement. The clothes dry nicely on it though.

Same here Tony. Bought it 10 years ago (or so) and really used it when I lived with my parents. But when I moved, I used it less. It eats alot of electricity, is very loud and it gets boring. But I think I got my money out of it. Now I just have to get rid of it.

Yes, you are beter off with a used better treadmill. Also ifyou are using this for walking, incline, incline, incline. Even if you start off with a small incline, it makes your body do so much more work and the benefits are so much better.

We have a Proform 770 and it's a couple of years old. Got it at Sears. It works great when we use it! We need to upgrade to the one that grabs you when you walk by and forces you to walk!!LOL!! We tend to do really well for awhile and then our routine gets messed up and we don't touch it for awhile.
That reminds me...I did tell myself last night I have to get back into the routine...
Nah! Not today.

Sears is where we got ours. Pro Form Fitness. 600.00. It has been collecting dust for 3 yrs. I wish I could get on there and use it. I find it mundane and walking outside is much easier as I have to keep going until I get to my car. On the treadmill, the scenery bores me and I can get off anytime. Biggest problem is with this 16 degree weather, I am not walking outside. I lost about 50lbs a couple years ago, mainly by walking 2 miles a day. I had a baby and put that weight back on and need to get going again. Good luck with your purchase.

We got a Proform from Sears about 2 months ago. So far I love it. It folds up nicely and it isnt too big.
Before the treadmill I would run outside every day. Now with these 0 degree mornings, I am so glad I can run inside. I also try to walk on it about 5 days a week. It has gotten a lot of use so far.

We put ours in the basement family room so we can watch tv while we walk. The tv has to be turned up pretty loud :o but since it's in the basement it doesn't bother the people upstairs. I find I used it more when I could lose myself in the Today show while I walked.
I have to stop coming back to this thread. It keeps reminding me how much I need to start 'milling again!! Just kidding!
Have good day!

I have an elliptical machine. Generally the good treadmill makers also make elliptical machines, they are great! More of a work out than walking on the treadmill with very little impact. If you are at a store you should try one out to see if you like it. Good luck!

I used to have one and a Nordic Trac, they're both great for drying sweaters on.:p If the one QVC has is the manual one - don't get it, I got it last year and hated it - sent it back!!
