Anyone own a Dyson Vacuum?

I have heard only one person talk about theirs, and they said they like it. I need to hear from someone who has had one for quite some time......and it would really help if you have pets living in the house. LOL Does it hold up well? Does it seem to do a good job?? What about getting up the pet hair, does it get it right up.....or do you have to pass-over the area a couple of times??? Is it worth the money? Does it seem to be made well, cuz I'm not gentle with these machines?! LOL

I keep killing every vacuum I own. My father was a Rainbow salesman, and I LOVE that thing. Some how, I have managed to ruin that one too. *sigh* Sorry about all the questions, but I'm seriously thinking of buying one....but want to know if it's even worth the cost.

TIA......Tink29

Thank you for asking this question, as I am in the same boat as you. I'm having trouble justifying spending $400-500 on a vacuum cleaner (and so is DH;))

OMG!!! I want one too!! I am ready to spend money on a vacuum that does a decent job and will last.

Funny story--my DD21 is a teachers aid in a 1st grade classroom. One of the boys is fascinated with vacuums!!! Show and tell he brings in various things vacuum related...the kid has a "zoomba"...one of those vacuums that move around the floor by itself!! I asked her to ask him...if he had to choose between an Oreck or a Dyson, which would he take? She said "without question an Oreck..." I said, why? she said "none have the suction power that the Oreck has" (she said this holding her fingers in quotes that he says word for word)!!! I was laughing SO hard!!!

I figure after Christmas I will splurge....I am curious to see what we come up with...

I'm looking at the Dyson Animal (the purple one), but can't justify the cost...yet. My neighbor got one (saw the box at the curb), but I haven't seen her yet to ask about it.

There's been a couple of threads on Dysons over the past month or so...people seem to really like 'em. Search and see what you find.

I really, really, really want one, but I'm a vacuum killer too.

I think that there should be DYSON salesmen who come to your house and demonstrate! We WANT a dyson, NOT A KIRBY!!!

We have one. We also have a dog and a cat, and LOTS Of hair around the house. Our old vacuum didn't do much of anything, this one is great. I only have to go over the area once, and it sucks up everything. I bought it at Best Buy and paid the extra $20 or so to have the 3 year warranty, so if ANYTHING goes wrong with it in 3 years they will give me a brand new one for free.
We love ours!

Which one did you get?

I haven't had mine very long, so I can't tell you about how it will hold up, I just got mine about 3 weeks ago because of all the positive things I had heard about them, but I love it! We have a sheltie with Mega Hair and a maltese. I did get the animal because we have stairs and the extra attachment is great. But, the power is just the same as the yellow one, so if you don't need the attachment I wouldn't bother.

We got ours from Linens N Things and they let us use the 20% off coupon so that helped. Some don't let you use it, so I would recommend asking the manager before getting your hopes up.

Happy shopping!

I've only had my Dyson a few months but I love it. It never gets clogged and is so easy to empty.

Works great on pet hair.

We got the "middle" one. There is the yellow one, the purple pet one, and the one we got is a purple/red one that is somewhere in the middle of the other two. It works great. We got it on sale and I had a coupon so it was an even better deal. I wanted the pet one, but the guy told me the only difference between ours and the pet one was that it had one extra attachment.

DH actually works for Best Buy (appliances sup) and says that the Dysons are well worth whatever you paid for them. :) I'm going to try to convince him that our next vacuum should be a Dyson. According to him, in some ways they are even better than a Kirby or an Oreck for less $$$.

I have had my yellow Dyson for a year now and would not give it up for anything.

We have 4 cats, a bird and 3 newfoundland dogs, I vacuume every day and still cant believe how much silt and crap comes out of my rugs !!!!

My hose is now ripped so I need to find someone to replace it. Other then that I have had ZERO problems !!!

Do they have a Best Buy near where you are, nealy? They might be able to either replace it or tell you where to get a replacement hose for it. :)

We've had our Dyson 03 since 1997 and its brilliant :Pinkbounc its never let us down, and since getting our dog last year it gets plenty of use ;) Here in the UK it is the most popular vacuum cleaner by far :teeth:

Best Buy,its about 35 miles away. I got it there but cant find my recite and I think I got the extended warrenty !!!

Anyone know if they can look it up on the computer ???

They might be able to, depending on how you paid. Did you pay with a credit card or a check? It's easier for them to look it up if you paid with CC or check than if you paid cash. :)

I saw them at Home Depot tonight....I THINK I saw the animal one for $499...not sure what they are going for at other stores...I will have to check again...

I just got the Animal model last week. I LOVE IT! My neighbor just bought one as well, and loves it too. I have 5 cats, a German Shepherd and a bunny. There is enough hair shed here to make another cat daily, and my Dyson gets it all up. It is exceptionally easy to empty, and is easy to push and cleans up everything. Well worth the money, when you consider that I have spent $100 a year on vacuums in the past 3 or 4 years. I love bagless vacuums, and this is the best one I have ever had.
