Anyone own a cat??

Just a quick update...we went to find ourselves a single, adult cat.

We came home with two 10-week old kittens. They already OWN my heart! Their names are Vader and Groucho. (Vader is already living up to his name!). They aren't brothers, but were raised together! As soon as I can figure out how to get pics from my iPhone posted, I'll share! Thanks again everyone!

Don't be shocked if you can't find them sometimes. Cats love to hide, especially in closets or other dark places. They'll come out when they're good and ready.

Ok I wanna put my 2 cents in as well Rajah is the first cat I've ever owned. I got him in 2001 at 10 weeks old, he is also a Maine Coone. He was an only child for 6 years, then my niece brought home a Miniture Pincher, Cole. Rajah is the boss, and established this by chasing Cole around the backyard.

I used to have an indoor cat & a Miniture Pincher several years ago. I got the cat first & she let the Min Pin known it! The cat weighed 14 pounds & the dog weighed 6 pounds. The cat would hide behind the door & wait for the dog to come through, then she would pounce the dog. It was kinda funny to watch. Once I heard the dog "screaming." I went to check on her & the cat had her arm around the dog's waist & was smacking her in the face back & forth. The cat was de-clawed so I know it wasn't hurting. When I told the cat "no", she looked at me like she wasn't doing anything!!

This thread just makes me smile! Being a "dog" person my entire 25 years of life, I never thought I would have a cat. My DH has had our dog since DH was 16 and when we met, I officially adopted her right a way! This past Feb. we got a cat for the local shelter because for some reason I instantly fell in love with her. She only cuddles when she wants to! Most of the time we don't see alot of her. About 8 weeks ago, I brought home a 4 week old kitten who was abandoned by the mom and the rest of the litter hadn't made it. I have literally become her mom, at first feeding her every 4 hours with an eye dropper. It was a rough road for that little runt! She's doing great now!
She brings back out the puppy and kitten in our 2 other pets!

We never have a dull moment now thanks to Kayla (the dog) Bella (the older cat) and Trixie--the baby kitty...oh yeah and our 2 year old daughter!

Congrats on the kitties, Amy! Just make sure you baby proof the house because it all applies to them as well. Watch plants especially as they will want to chew on them. If you find they are scratching the corners of your couches or chairs, put packaging tape on them temporarily and they'll lose interest.

Yep, that is the way it works with cats. Make any plans you want like "I am going to adopt a single adult cat" and then, WHAM, two ten week old kittins decide that THEY want YOU. You are powerless.

OK...now that the kitties have them should we tell them the truth?

Truth one : kittens think day is night and night is day. It takes a while to convince them other wise.

I never thought about wraping the cats with packaging tape to keep them from scratching! Excellent idea!
