The Canon T3 is on sale in a few ads this week which has got me longing for an SLR again. I gave up my Canon Rebel G SLR a few years ago when I went digital. I am a Canon fan. I have two Canon point and shoots (Powershot SD850 IS & an older A700).

Any opinions on the T3? I am trying to spend less v. more money because I am not sure I want the hassle of hauling around a SLR again. I broke a nice Tameron lens on my old Rebel G because it was always getting bumped while I had it over my shoulder at WDW. :)

It will mostly get used for people pics at WDW, Christmas, birthday parties, etc. I'd love to use it to get some good fireworks pics at MK. I don't care about video. I have a video camera for that.

Can anyone tell me about their experience with a T3 or a similar Canon SLR?

I'm also looking into purchasing this camera, and would love to hear some feedback as well. It would be my first DSLR.

I love my Canon and boy do they last and trust me I've put it threw "heck" haha I actually just recommended the T3 to a friend of mine recently it looks like a great camera for someone starting out and with the price around $500-$600 you can't go wrong. I'd recommend it. :thumbsup2

I know you stated you are a Canon fan, so I'm not going to bother talking specifically about other brands, but I would recommend you look around at all the brands. I recommend you handle all the cameras, work the menus and buttons. The quality of the cameras being produced today is phenomenal and it really comes down to personal preference on how the camera feels in your hands, basically the ergonomics. When you switch to a DSLR, you are committing to a system which includes the camera bodies, lenses, etc. You want to ensure the company lens line is in keeping with your needs. I would recommend you do a little more research. Good luck with your choice.
