I am looking to buy a 2006 model Triumph, but the description from the online store says "supports up to 40 lbs"

Most all of the 2007 Maclarens support up to 55lbs, so I am wondering if this is a typo, or if the 2006 Triumph really only supports 40lbs.

This is a major issue, as the reason I am buying the Triumph is to replace a stroller that has a 35lb weight limit (which we are fast approaching). I don't want to buy a stroller with a 40lb limit...that sort of defeats the purpose.

If anyone who owns one can confirm for me, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance. :thumbsup2

I think it is a typo. I purchased a brand new Triumph in August of last year before our Thanksgiving trip, so I am assuming it was a 2006 model. I bought it because of the 55lb limit. DD at that time was already 43 pnds. We still use it occasionally and she is now 45 pounds. I haven't had any problems with it, in fact, it has been wonderful. We are going to use it again for our Feb 08 trip and she may be pushing the limit by then.

Did you check out the Maclaren website?

it's a typo. the triumph and quest(which Ii have) got o 55 lb weight limits. I looked at both before buying my 2006 model.

I love my Quest.

Yeah, I checked the Maclaren site but ALL their stats are for the current (2007) models only.

It's not just one online store, either, it's a few...I guess I could call Maclaren and just ask them.

Thanks though...sounds like you definitely have a 2006 model and if yours goes up to 55lbs, then I guess it's just wrong information online.

I have a Quest too, but I don't know what model year it is...I bought it in January, and the manufacture date stamped on it is Nov 2006, so I assume that means it's a 2006 model year as well and the limit on that one is 55lbs.

I LOVE my Quest too! But, I want a Triumph because older DS (almost 3) doesn't need the extendable leg rest and variable recline which I needed at the time I purchased it for my youngest (now 14 months). Plus, I like the carry strap on the Triumph. That's one thing that I wish was different on the Quest.

It's a total typo. Many online baby stores have the wrong info - I have emailed them, as well as Maclaren several times as this is very frustrating. They have been rated at 55lbs, for several years now - you can email or call Maclaren and they will tell you this very thing.

I have found so many errors and misprints on online baby store websites that it's ridiculous! They don't seem to update info - I refuse to buy from any of the stores that don't update their info as I don't know if they are going to pull something in regards to a warranty issue, etc. Proper info should be a priority for them, but for many it's not, so this costs them me as a customer.

Happy shopping - we love our Mac Triumph. Macs are the best!! Tiger :)

here is my Quest.

I had a Chicco before this but with a weight limit of
37 lbs on it I needed a better stroller. The chicco had the carrying strap. it was nice.

I muct admit to buying mine for pattern mostly then I regretted not getting the black/red version. :rotfl2:

Hey, are we twins? ;) I have a Chicco too, the Capri. Is it 37lbs? I thought 35. In any event it also says "for children 3 and under". :) DS is just getting too big for it. His head is over the top of the back and it gets very frustrating because he pulls down the canopy and it's about broken. I tried to switch the kids around and put my older one in the Quest and the younger in the Chicco, but the baby hates the Chicco (I bought the Quest for him, primarily). He's brand loyal already, I guess. :rolleyes1

Anyway, I love the Quest so much that I want another Maclaren. The Triumph will do for us, though, since it's for the older one and he doesn't need all the bells and whistles of the Quest for comfort.

I admit, I might take the carrying strap off the Chicco and use it on the Quest. I found a way to hook it on so that it works! But then, I can't really sell the Chicco...

Thank you for that information! I totally thought ALL the Maclarens had a weight limit of 55lbs for a few years now. I have seen the wrong info on OVER 5 online retailers so far, and to be honest, I sort of think at this point that the misinformation must be coming from Maclaren in the form of misprinted informational materials. Amazon.com, BabiesRUs.com, Albeebaby.com, and other very well known merchants have the SAME wrong info, so I have to wonder how so many of them can be wrong. I don't have any reason to not trust most of these merchants, as I have to wonder, who else would I buy the stroller from? Certainly, if this info was coming from some generic Ebay "online store" or something, I'd have second thoughts about purchasing, but as these are pretty well known and highly regarded retailers, I don't feel like they are being shady or anything.

In any event, thank you for clearing that up for me. My next step was going to be Maclaren Customer Service, but I trust your info. Thank you!

I don't want to pass up a Triumph for $109.99 and free shipping!

No problem! The reps at Mac assured me that they send out new info each year with their new products to all authorized retailers (you do know that some online retailers are not authorized Mac sellers, and therefore you cannot get warranty service from Mac?) and expect them to post info correctly. I tried to get them to understand that they needed to be more proactive and check with these authorized retailers that the info they are posting about their products is correct.

As an English teacher this kind of stuff is important to me and is not just normal of online baby stores. Most online stores that I visit have tons of misinformation (even Amazon), etc. I am assuming it's laziness - when I contacted the bunch of online retailers about this, not many of them seem to cared, to be honest. One blamed it on Mac, but once I gave them the name of who I spoke to at Mac, they changed their tune and said they would contact Mac right away for clarification - a quick check a few months later revealed they still had wrong info posted about weight requirements. Again, they just don't find it an important isssue, when in fact, it is!

Good luck stroller shopping, Tiger :)
