Anyone out there who does not have Facebook, Myspace or Twitter?

Everyone seems to be on these social-networking sites, but not me...just does not appeal. Anyone else not interested in them?

Isn't this a social networking site? It seems to me that it is. It has a different format, but is basically them same thing. You talk with strangers and make new friends.

Yes, it is, but here you have the choice to use a pseudonym and remain anonymous. Doing that on FB or MS is a violation of the terms of service.

On the DIS it isn't all about YOU. You don't have a page with your pictures, your mood at the moment, your favorite bands, books, etc etc. It is not so narcissistic in nature. There is discussion and more give and take here.

I agree.

I like the DIS because of the news, conversations and discussions. I could care less than a darn what people do in their personal lives on a daily basis, and really choose NOT to see them doing it, either! :lmao:

I like the info I get here but I don't even read the "too personal" threads on THIS board. :scared:

No plans here either. I looked at my sister's facebook page, and there is no way I have or would want to spend that much time on a website (other than the disboards that is.) :)

Just IMO, but it doesn't take more than a few minutes to post an update, skim through friends' updates, and maybe make a comment or two. These boards take up far, FAR, FAAAARRRRR more time than Facebook ever could!

Very true! I spend much more time here than I do on Facebook or Myspace.

Dh and I don't use any of those sights and never will. We don't see the point. We also don't use cell phones, we have a pay as you go that we take when we are traveling for emergencies but that's it. I think if my friends and family want to talk to me they can call me on the regular phone (gasp) or email me. :thumbsup2

I resisted for a long time but finally gave in to peer pressure. I really hate talking on the phone so Facebook actually makes it a lot easier for me to communicate with my family. My "friends" are all people who are related to me. It's a nice way to keep in touch without me having to pick up a telephone. :rotfl:

DD is at her dad's for part of the summer and then off to college. I've noticed that she and I spend a lot of time chatting and sending each other messages through Facebook. She used to send texts all the time and I'm unbearably slow at that so I prefer talking to her this way.

My girls were in Europe for a month this summer visiting their dad and it was so nice to be able to be able to chat with them on Facebook. Plus I saw their updates and knew what they were doing while they were over there and they would post pictures for me (and the rest of the family and friends) to see. It makes it so easy to keep in touch.

Seriously!! I don't get into all the games/etc on Facebook, but I like skimming through the post and then seeing the pictures. My cousin just had a new baby and she will upload baby pics for everyone to see. :goodvibes

I like knowing what my extended family is doing on a daily basis....makes me feel more connected to them! :goodvibes

None of us have any of those. I'll admit to being curious about Twitter since I see many celebs use it and I'm not familiar with the format. Alas, I'd probably try it and drop it but I'd like to take a peek.
