Anyone on Weight Watchers?

So, my mom and I joined Weight Watchers on Friday night and I'm extremely dedicated to doing good and being successful. (If I loose too much weight, and they can't alter my wedding dress, she's going to buy me a new one. Just hoping that mine doesn't get discontinued).

Anyway, was just wondering if anyone else that goes to the World is on Weight Watchers, and how do you figure out the points? Is there a list of menues that has the point values for everything or do you actually sit there and figure out the points?

Thanks in advance!

I have been on weight watchers since 1/3/11 and have been pretty dedicated to following it- ive lost 69 lbs so far! Its really great.
I am also going to Disney World in 39 days (YAY!!) and I am on the deluxe dining plan, which I reserved before I began weight watchers. Its going to be a LOT of food.
I don’t plan on counting points when there. Id be stressing out and have to hide my food scale in my purse to measure anything I ate.
I AM going to eat smart though. You bet im eating dessert at every meal! Im just not going to eat the whole thing. Just smarter choices all around. Nothing deep fried, eat half the serving not all what is put on my plate- stay away from gravies and creams and eat slowly!
Good luck, and the plan works so stick with it!

First; Best Wishes on your upcoming wedding, I wish you much happiness.

Yes I am a weight watchers member and have gone to WDW, I have never found a points total for any of the WDW restaurants so before my trip I discussed it with the weight watcher meeting leader and she stressed portion control and making good choices. If you do a buffet go through the line once and look for the “power foods” and take smaller portions. In the sit down restaurants I chose chicken or fish over beef and asked for it to be cooked without heavy sauces etc.

In case you’re wondering yes I’m a guy, the only on in our weekly meetings actually. The reason I joined weight watcher was simple, a heart attack. That’s when my doctor said to me “Sarge, there are old men and there are overweight men but there are very few old overweight men.”

40 lbs and counting, and last trip I walked my wife and son into the ground. The 90 minute walk I take every day was great training for WDW.

I've been on WW for almost two years. I lost 40 lbs. in 8 months. I've pretty much kept it off with a couple of fluctuations here or there but nothing too bad!

When I go to Disney... all bets are off. I look forward to my trip all year, there is soo much to eat... and so many memories associated with it. I'll be damned if I am going to diet for my short time in the World!

I do try to make good decisions... like, not eat bacon and pancakes EVERY morning, or try to eat healthy at one meal a day. Maybe split an appetizer... Things like that. If I am going for a week, I'll try to hit the gym or go for a run. But a long weekend? Oh no way will I be working out! I figure, I am walking around so much it might help offset the weight!

I do gain a couple of pounds on vacation, but I find my body is so shocked to go back on the plan, I wind up losing 4 pounds that first week back.

It's all about moderation. Be super On Plan for the weeks leading up to the trip... and really good when you're back!

Enjoy your trip - you only live once!

(But if you must count, you can always use the Droid or Apple app on your phone! Or get a booklet from your leader to take notes.)

Thanks everyone for your imput!! I was thinking pretty much along the lines of everyone else. We are on the basic dining plan. I see that a lot of the quick service meals offer apple slices (Free Points!) instead of the fries and I don't eat red meat so it's mostly just chicken and shrimp for me. I like the suggestion about cutting back on the sauces as well. Thank you! I also figured since I'm big on walking that I'll end up walking off mostly what I eat anyway. (I ended up loosing a lot of weight when I worked there. Maybe it's a sign to move back down there and start working there again. Ha ha!)

I am from the UK and last year lost 22lbs following WW. AT WDW I only gained 3lbs in 2 weeks. I generally didn't have an app or shared one, thought a little more carefully about the entree and then thought if I really had room for dessert or not. Also I only had snacks if I was hungry or knew we didn't have a big meal reservation coming up. I am sure the walking and swimming helped too. Good luck, you can do it xxx

Oh and also shrimp are quite low points - obviously not if deep fried in batter. Some of the CS offer rather nice salads too - I guess you could ask for the dressing on the side.

Is up to you to figure the points but what I do is not eat the bread (except at Kona's grille at dinner) and then I skip the butter (but it is so good) and try to eat more veggies and less potatoes. and really watch the desserts. so far has worked for me. Plus most get to walk and that helps keep a gain down. but now I have MS so am on a scooter so have to be really careful. At character breakfast and buffets I just watch portions. as we can have most anything--just portion control.. but I do take my salad dressing with me. as I do not need the temptation of "blue cheese or ranch" in front of me):thumbsup2

Also, remember you will most likely be doing a lot more walking daily. Even if you are currently working out, the amount of walking is very high while in the parks. Take that into account so you don't run "low" during the day.

Wish you the best of luck! I just joined on Monday with my daughter who has agreed to go with me to Disney in a year if we stick to it and lose weight. I also hope there is a new points chart out there because I am going to Disney in April and don't want to fall off the wagon.
