Hi

I was wondering if there was anyone who has been to Disney recently and been on a low carb plan? I am currently doing Atkins and after being off the wagon for a couple months have started up again. I really want to stick to plan because I think it would be great with all the walking! But, I am worried about not having many options there.

Any tips????

Thanks:sunny:

We went with my aunt in law who was doing Atkins.

She didn't have any problems. For breakfast, we had eggs in our room - which made things very nice (we had a kitchen).

For lunch, we were usually apart, but when we were together she often had a chicken cesear salad and picked around the croutons. The salad at Pecos Bills was better for her (fewer tempting crutons) than the one at Cosmic Rays.

She usually had a steak or something like for dinner, with steamed vegetables - hold the potatoes. She really enjoyed Teppanyaki - where the carbs are limited anyway.

You might visit the WISH board. There are many folks doing Atkins or other low carb diets, and they will have great suggestions for you. I know they helped me a ton with finding good things for my eating plan.

Hi Lisa - I did Atkins the last time I was at WDW. It was very easy but I was so glad I was only there for three days because I could feel my commitment weaken the longer we were there. I wasn't perfect but I would say I was close to program. I did eat sushi and dessert once, as a treat, and I had a couple of drinks. Otherwise, I brought Atkins bars for breakfast or ate eggs and sausage. I had fish or shrimp for dinner almost every night and just skipped the bread or potatoes. At Typhoon Lagoon, I had an excellent chicken caesar salad and picked out the croutons. I'd also agree that you might get some good advice on the WISH board. Good luck!

Ohanns' is an atkins dream come true. Lot's of great grilled meats. Have not done atkins at WDW but have here at home and we eat out a lot. Any meat is good and most places will sub a veggie for baked potato. There are also sugar free ice cream choices if you choose not to be too strict. Just order a burger and toss the bun, and depending on where in the plan you are, you might can get fruit instead of fries. Breakfast is a breeze with eggs, and meats at every buffet. Enjoy and eat well.

Thank you everyone! I am going to venture over to the WISH board for some more info. I am feeling a bit better about it now:teeth: I am going to utilize the free 30 minute food store stop with my transportation and buy some Atkins stuff there- shakes, etc.

Very easy to do atkins. Plenty of meat, green veggies and salad.

Breakfast is never a problem.

I've been living Atkins since January. Stayed 2 weeks at Fort Wilderness Cabins, with kitchen. Was very easy to stay on Atkins. Ate breakfast in the cabin. Lunch and snacks at the parks. There are chicken caesar, or other salads that are legal everywhere. Had great no sugar treats at Epcot and the candy on Main Street in Magic Kingdom for treats. All in all it was very easy to stay on plan. Actually lost 4 pounds from all the walking. Gained 2 back already. Good luck!
