Anyone offer DDDP as an upgrade?

I am looking into booking a Disney trip for next year during the free dining period (Aug/Sep). I have been searching around and have noticed pretty good deals on TCD and on the Disney site itself (minus flights). However I am considering pushing the boat out and choosing the Deluxe Dining Plan as when we were there last time we often visited restaurants that required 2 TS and don't want to have to worry about it.

So when looking on both these sites, I noticed that I can upgrade from the Quick Counter Plan to the Disney Dining Plan for a minimal amount, but if I want the Deluxe Dining Plan, I have to pay for it all, there is no choice for an upgrade and pay less. I was quoted £1203 (something like that) for the DDDP for 2 weeks for 2 people. So my question is, does anyone know of any place that offers this at an upgrade price? I think it is unfair that I would miss out on free DDP all together and have to pay the whole thing, I don't mind paying an upgrade, but £1203 is a bit out of my price range.

Thanks

I don't think its possible to upgrade a moderate hotel to deluxe DDP, it costs like you say £1,203.
You can upgrade a deluxe resort from regular DDP to Deluxe DDP for £19.00 per adult, £6.00 per child
So looks like they only allow you to upgrade one level, beyond that its full price.

As Wayne says online it looks like one level upgrade - I suggest giving them a call to ask :goodvibes

wayne - so you can upgrade from a deluxe resort then? I didn't see that option either, I would definitely consider that. Would these be available at all the travel companies? £19.00 per adult is much more doable and it would give me an excuse to stay deluxe I guess. If only I could afford The Poly or The GF again, might look at WL. Looked on TCD and they don't offer it. Even if you book AKL, it only offers Deluxe Dining at £1200 for 2 people!

Yes, if you price up on Disney.co.uk you can check the prices. I looked at AKL August 2010 and it allowed me to upgrade for £19/night.
Not sure thru travel companies, you would have to check with each one what they offer.

Just checked prices.
AKL or WL with 14 day tix and deluxe DDP Total Price £3,194.00
Moderate (POR) with 14 day tix & regular DDP £2,018.00

If its going to cost £1,200 to upgrade the DDP you might as well stay in Deluxe hotel if you can afford.

We were able to upgrade this years free dining to DlxDP.

We are staying at at deluxe hotel in August booked through Virgin, although we couldn't upgrade online. We had to make the booking and then phone to add it on. Although if I try and make the booking now it will let me upgrade online.

The cost for this year was £18 pppn.

Also we have just come back from Disney - Stayed at the CR with and had DlxDP for the first time. I agree with what most people say though it is to much food.

But for us it is still worth it as we always eat on property for the disney part of our holiday and always order appertisers. We just accept that we do not use it to the max and don't try to, which is fine for us. Working out the numbers we come out just in front without the snacks and refillable mugs. But like I said we do not get it to save money just to prepay what we are likely to order while we are there.

When we go in August I'm planning on Signature Restuartants most evenings with a TS breakfast and on the days we arn't doing Signature Dinners we will have room service breakfast and a regular TS dinner or CS, this time I'm going to book breakfast around 10:30 - 11:00am using a snack credit for first thing. That way we can get to the park earlier with dinner around 6pm.
