Woohoo!!! I was one of like two people on the least fav vs fav restaurants thread who said Ohana was my least favorite. This thread is like a little support group for Ohana dislikers!

We couldn't stand Ohana and will not ever go back. I have three kids--my oldest participated and ended up complaining later that she was hungry the middle one thought it was waaayyy too loud--mom and dad agreed completely--and wanted to know why that weird lady kept talking to strangers. The food was okay--liked the chicken on the appetizer plate the most. What appalled me the most was the pineapple--dry, not ripe and very tasteless.

Plus our waitstaff stunk. We were told that the kids could order off of a children's menu, we asked for one and it never appeared until we were ready to leave and the waiter said, "Oh, did you want a kids menu?" Well, not NOW!! I left hungry too and my DH wasn't hungry, but certainly wasn't full. No way would i waste any money to eat there again.

LOVED the Kona, though and could eat there every meal!

DW and I made our first visit to Ohanas this past weekend. We had heard so much positive feedback that we just had to try it. I must say, we had plenty to eat and the wait staff was great. The quality of the food was not bad (not great either). My biggest objection is that there are no courses. Everything is served at the same time. When the appetizer platter was served I thought we would have some time to enjoy them. But before we knew it, the skewers started arriving. Normally I like prompt service, but I got the impression they wanted to feed us fast so they could reuse the table. Now that we understand the procedure, we will try the restaurant again and this time we will pass on the meat until we am ready for it. Otherwise we found it to be a plesant, although pricey, experience.

Hmmm, I'd saythe food was pretty good, not great though. Both breakfast and dinner. Tough if you like shrimp like my DH does, you can really pack in those all you can eat scewers at dinner!

I'd say it's worth a go once...but it's not on our list of "must go's" every time we go to WDW.:sunny: It's fun and good but not great. Give it a whirl though if you're curious. The headline of this thread is likely to get the respones of people that don't like the place (hence why peeked in) so give it the appropriate weight.

Disappointed...

We had heard so many great reviews and my husband is a huge meat eater. The rest of us love shrimp so we couldn't wait.

Honestly, the seasoning on the shrimp made my daughter feel sick. I didn't like it at all. My son ate some. My DH wasn't impressed. It's too bad because this was our 1st meal on our 1st night and we were so excited to be back at WDW.

I will say that the wonton appetizers were yummy, but it's hard to justify the price for a dinner of wontons...

the appetizer was great!!, i didnt care for the rest....i was hit with a broom during a coconut roll contest and almost taken out entirely by a hula-hoop gone crazy!!! ( i know therer kids having fun, but not quite what i expected ) if you decide to go , the one thing that made it all worth while was timing it with the wishes fireworks, ask for a window fireworks table , they have the most incredible view and they play the music that the fireworks are syncronized to. ( i would do it again just for that!! )

hope this has helped.

Its one of those love or hate places. We liked it, especially the shrimp and the wontons, but I could see why some (especially childless coupkes as we are) would hate it. We preferred Kona, but if you've never tried Ohanas i would give it a go.

DH did not like Ohanas. The spices in the food were too much for him. He had to leave the table and head for a bathroom 30 minutes after he started eating. DS(10) and I loved it! DS wants to go back there for his b-day. DH will pass.

Add me to the list. DW and I ate there on our honeymoon in September and it was a real dissapoinment. We have no kids but the games did not really bother us that much, (we knew what we were getting into) and the apps. were great. The meat and shrimp however were downright blah. They had little flavor and were way overcooked. The shrimp is cooked in the shell and any flavor it might have had has to be peeled away before you can eat it. I also have to agree with the poster who said they "were not showered with food". We each got two cubes of the four skewer products, (beef, turkey, pork, shrimp) and then our "cousin" server became hard to find.

I can take or leave Ohana, but my DH loves it so we wind up going at least once whenever we are at WDW. We're going in January and already he is talking about how much he can't wait to go to Ohana with his daughter (24) and our daughter(2). The 2 year old will probably like the rice and the coconut races. I'll just drink my yearly vitamin C ration and persevere.

as two more who didn't enjoy 'Ohanas. DH and I agree with most of the other posters here who thought the meat was overcooked and tasted all the same. Apps were also cold, and overall not worth the money.

Oh, well, guess we had to try it (this past Monday 10-25) to see for ourselves. There's another Disney restaurant we'll cross off our list.
