Anyone not interested in 2054?

If that is the new ending date for SSR or for other resorts through extensions of some sort-does anyone not wish to extend their contract(s)?

We'll be in our 80's. I know we'll probably still travel but I don't think it will matter if we still have DVC then.

Just curious. Anyone else not going to extend if offered the chance to do so?

I think there will be a lot of people that would think that's too far ahead to think of parting with money now. I'll be mid 80s by 2042, I don't think I'd pay out much now to cover for that chance. The odds say I'm unlikely to make it.

I'll be 82 in 2042, I'm not going to put out money now to extend to when I'm 94. I'd rather add-on points at either OKW or BWV to use now.

I really don't have much interest in SSR. We like OKW because of the bigger rooms and quiet setting and BWV because of the great location next to Epcot. What they are building now looks like a hotel setting with rooms the same size as BWV without the good location.

I'll be 88 in 2042 and my youngest will be 65. In 2054 I'll be 100  Don't think I'll be extending. :p I too, would rather add on and enjoy the here and now.:D

I will leave that decision, and cost, to my 'kids'. If by luck I'm still around, I'll be 96 and unless they add an oxygen connection to the standard equipment, I probably won't be doing WDW too much if at all.

Same story here, I'll be 100 in 2054. Can't say what I'll be doing, except maybe pushing up daisies!!
We don't have children so maybe some niece or great-niece (if they hurry up and get busy) will get our share and they can make that decision.

It's not that I wouldn't be interested - all being well I should have a little bit of life left in me by that time. But it isn't going to be an issue as I don't intend to buy any points there anyway. For the moment, at least!!

But I would be interested to know what will happen after 2042. Someone posted that the other DVC resorts will close down for refurbishment. For how long? And become what? Unless DVC carry on building DVC resorts, such as the planned Eagle Pines, members won't have a choice of resorts as we do now, but their only place to stay for the following 12/13 years will be SSR.

Not interested here, either. I will be 102 then and if my kids desire to travel, it will have to be on their dime.;)

While I'm still hoping to have enough energy to enjoy DVC (I will be 68 and my husband 72 in 2042), we are also hoping to snowbird by then and have some kind of permanent winter home in orlando. As great as staying on site is, it can't really beat being in orlando from October through April!

Nope, I am not in the least bit interested. I am perfectly content with my DVC membership ending in 2042, by that point I will be in my late 80's! If the kids or grandkids wish to extend the membership they are more than welcome to do so but at that point in my life, if I am still around, I think I would most likely pass on this window of opportunity! LOL

I'll be 82 when the current DVC expires. If I am still able to travel I will worry about it then! LOL!

Also, I am considering at least a part time retirement to Florida (and maybe even a part time job at Disney :) ) So... who knows. (However the long term boyfriend wants to retire to Paris, TN and at SOME point we will be too old to commute. We have commuted for over a decade now.)

2042 always seemed like plenty of time for me: I'll be 68 years old, and while I'm sure I'll still want to go to Disney, things may be very different then. I'm not really interested in DVC as something to pass on; this is something I have purchased strictly for me and my mom, who is my fellow Disneyholic...the rest of the family thinks we are a little nuts:rolleyes:

Maybe I'll feel otherwise further down the line, but right now I'll probably be adding on resale contracts instead of SSR, unless there is something else to draw me into SSR.

If I'm not at the parks in 2054, I'll be in the freezer sittin on a shelf next to our favorite Imagineersicle ;)

I'd bet that the demographics of current DVC owners show that most of us will be, ahem, indisposed somehow, in 2054.
So they may not think an extension is neccessary for the "old" DVC members!

I'm going to let my 2 DS to worry about it... They're 12 and 9 yrs old.

I will be 86 and Cindy will be 85 in 2042, the decision will be our kids who will be 68 and 56, or there children will have to make the decision.

Hi,

I'll be in my sixties 2042 so the decision will be up to my kids. Unless they are able to decide something sooner than that. I'd extended for the kids if they want.

Hubby and I will be over 100 in 2054 so I don't think we would be interested in WDW and our children will be in their 80's. If the grandkids want to extend or whatever is offered in 2042, that will be up to them. I think Nana and Papa will be pushing up daisies by then.

Nope not interested here......... But I cant wait to find out all the details!!!!!:bounce:

Well Disney will have the choice of upgrading the old resorts and reselling them as DVC III or just taking over the buildings to use as hotels, depending on what promises to make the most IMHO there is more money for Disney in reselling the original DVC resorts as "new" 50 year plan as opposed to trying just 12 year extentions, so I can't see that idea flying.

I think that it makes the most sense to Disney to refurb OKW, HH and Vero first, selling those (or at least starting selling those) before putting the others on the market. I can see a possibility Disney selling off Vero and/or HH but I think that would be a shame. The others (VWL, BWV and BCV) can all use the check-in and resort facilities of the attached hotels so their refurbs would be easier and cheaper, but those could easily just be used as another room type option for the resorts. OKW really only has a future as a "timesheare" resort within Disney whereas the others could just supliment the resorts they are attached to.
