Anyone NOT get hoppers/upgrading if buying through way.com

Ok, I see the majority likes to get the hoppers. We are on a bit of a budget (our DL stop is in the middle of our cross country trip). We are considering not buying hoppers for our 3 days. I already made a bit of a plan using touring plans. We plan on one day at DCA and two at DL. We will do one night with Fantasmic and the fireworks, one with WOC, and one with the Paint the Night parade. We are going to be a bit tired from our traveling I imagine by the time we get to California. I kind of like to stick to a plan, and I don't know if we would throw it out the window to hop if it were crowded unless the other park was completely empty lol! We are going July 21-23 which is a Tuesday through Thursday. Any thoughts or experiences NOT hopping.

Second question is if we buy through way.com, do we still only pay the $40 a ticket to upgrade to the hoppers or will we pay the full increase between the discounted tickets and the park price.

We have not hopped at DL. We are always on a budget and that seems to be a place we can save money and honestly, once we're there we have never regretted it. I figured if it is busy at one park then it's probably busy at the other so switching parks doesn't really buy us much. Maybe someone else has a different view but we are happy with saving the money for other things.

I think that's fine. I don't know if you have to hop. We usually spend most of our time at DL. One day at DCA is plenty. I imagine both parks will be crowded in July

Both hyperventilating and dying at the idea of being in DCA for only one day. Crying as well! We adore DCA.

I believe I can definitely upgrade if we need to. What I am curious about is if I will be only adding on $40 a ticket as if I paid full price, or if I have to pay the additional difference between the way.com price and Disney's price. In that case, I'd rather buy the hoppers to begin with.

Hop when you can afford to. I love DCA and spent our first day, 100% in DCA... and then hopped to DL for the late night fun after DCA closed, since we could.

I don't know about Disneyland, but at WDW as long as you use your ticket first it is the regular upgrade fee but if you do it before using your tickets you will have to pay the difference. (At least that is my understanding.)
