Anyone near Jacksonville NC?



I know of a family in Jacksonville NC who have 6 kids (some are not biological children but where taken in by the mom because the mother’s brother could take care of his kids). I don’t know all of the details, but what I do know is the father is in Iraq serving the Army and the family moved to Jacksonville NC from Alaska while he is gone. I don’t know what type of military support they are getting and was wondering if anyone could help me find a military or church organization to help them during Christmas.



Let me make one thing very clear (this is not meant to be harsh) This is NOT a solicitation for money or gifts!



This post is for information only please. I do not want this turned into a “I’ll give money or send the kids gifts” thing. All I am looking for is information. I would like to contact a group in Jacksonville NC to see if they would like to help this family. I have done a little net searching, but I just don’t have enough time to get this done soon.



So, if you or someone you know has information on a legit organization that can help, please let me know.

In this area the Salvation Army always offers lots of help to such families at Christmas. I hope the above poster can help you with information. Thanks for caring about a soldiers family. They are sometimes forgotten.

MCAS New River is near Jacksonville. This is a Marine facility but it should offer support to the family. She could call the family services there at 910-4496110 and they should be able to help with all sorts of stuff. She should absolutely look to them for some help. If they can't provide it they can find out who can. She should also be able to use the commissary there and save lots of money on those grocery bills!

My son is at Camp Lejeune, NC. (USMC base) DH (former Marine) says Jacksonville is the closest town. There should be Toys for Tots. Have them sign up it it is not too late. Also, they will have full access to any and all military base facilities (PX, Commissary, Hospital...) There are recreational facilities on base also -- cheap.
