Anyone move out of state away from family and regret it?

It was nostalgic reading this though. I actually moved out to Colorado when I was 21, and then back home two years later. It was tough being 2000 away from all family. A 5 hour flight meant we only saw our families once the whole time out there. I was kind of curious how it all turned out...:scratchin

If all you have is your parents, would they move if you wanted them to. Sounds like a good opportunity. I live in MA and have thought about it, but with a large family and many kids my kids ages I haven't been able to make that change. Good luck with whatever you decide.
I wouldn’t hold my breath for the poster to reply since the last time they posted was 2010.

I lived overseas for several years and the things I missed were strange and not always what I expected:

Buying ketchup at a department store's gourmet section.

Monthly trips to Paris to get my hair done (was living in Switzerland at the time) and buy cosmetics.

No Thanksgiving celebration until the weekend and then it was a sort of potluck w/ ex-pats and "Americanphiles" weekend long party w/ champagne replacing cider; sometimes a goose replaced the turkey.

Waking or staying up to wish people at home best wishes for various celebratory days with New Year being the worst.

Being able to jump on the phone and cry on my mother's shoulder at a moment's notice. Had to plan it carefully then and sometimes what I wanted to whine/rage/cry/lmao about had been resolved by the time I spoke w/ her. Which actually was a good thing on many levels.

Realising that kiddos knew all our "secret languages" now and we had to be more...circumspect.

Calling cards were big especially amongst the Germans but appreciated by all. Basically a business card with your address and private phone number.

When I returned back to NY I've never contemplated living in any other state with the exception of CT which I lust for every summer. However since my mother won't move there the Nutmeg State is just a pipe dream. All my siblings still live in NY with the exception of one who moved to the US South and is welcome to stay there.
