My DH and I were on our second WDW trip together in October and joined DVC while we were there (got a lot of info here and from DVC friends). We were staying at Coronado Springs, which we really love, and thinking about how that would be our last stay there.

Our good DVC fiends said they had similar thoughts about leaving POR and staying at BCV, but they were sure they would get over it! ;)

I'm not sad that I signed up, not at all, I'm sure I'll LOVE SSR and staying at a deluxe resort will be easy to get uesd to, but does anyone miss thier old resort?

Which resort was your old resort, and have you ever gone back to stay there for "old times sake"?

In our case our old resort was the Beach Club and we bought into the BCV, so we don't miss it one bit! ;)

we - like many others here - will not miss our "old" favorites. We are still going to be staying at them (and some new ones hopefully!) on the weekends so that we can go to disney even more often (and spend more money there!)

Shades of Green is awesome. IMO it's the best hotel room for families in WDW. I've only stayed there once, but it will always be my favorite. I'll resist DVC studios for as long as I can cuz I'll just compare them to a SoG room.

The regular rooms include 2 queen beds PLUS a double sleeper, table/chairs, coffee maker and minibar.

Because family members are still military we could have another opportunity to stay there, but that's never a guarantee. Thus, our DVC purchase and access to all these wonderful villas.

After 13 years of owning OKW, I NEED to visit it every time I am in Florida. I have tried staying at other resorts and it makes me feel like I am staying in the neighbor's house. OKW is my home away from home.

You could always book a weekend stay at the moderates to avoid the high weekend point costs. There are a lot of threads here about how WDW does a very good job of helping to relocate you if you change resort in the middle of your stay.

This can be particularly beneficial if you have Annual Passes and discounted rates are offered.

sometimes - so I stay there on the Fri following my stay at OKW - POR

a couple of years ago I tried to get OKW for Dec and I couldn't beginning stupid at the time I had already brought tickets for MVMCP. so we went with out other long time favorite the Polyn - the whole time there mother saying how she missed OKW.....

We stayed at CBR last month for 5 nights, a last minute Halloween Party trip. We love CBR but missed our DVC 1 bedroom! It's hard to go back to a regular room!

...but we plan on some meals there, and *gasp* pool hopping, LOL, if its ok when we call the CM!!;)

Our immediate trips before we purchased were at WL and VWL, CBR, 2 I Drive motels, and a motel near Old Town. Except for the WL and VWL trips(on cash, yikes) I don't want to go back to the old ones. The CBR trip is what convinced my wife we "needed" DVC or we weren't coming back :D

We just spent our first trip at BWV so I've stayed at all 4 on site now and and unless there's a good reason, we won't stay anywhere other than DVC.

NO, since we didn't always stay at the same one. We did often stay in the moderates, so we definately like our delux accomodations at OKW above CBR and POR! Our other on-site resort prior to DVC was Wilderness Lodge, and we can still reserve there, so no problem!

Growing up w/ Disney, my family has stayed in almost every one of the resorts. Every year, we stayed at a new resort. I loved them all for their different themes and locations. My husband and I most stayed at the GF concierge main bldg for our 5 yr anniversary and for a trip we took 2 yrs ago w/ his parents who are in their 70's. We wanted them to feel what it was like to be wined and dined w/ superb service and fabulous music emanating up from the lobby. It's a once in a lifetime experience and we found that to be one of our favorites. It is especially near and dear to our hearts because I stayed there for the first time w/ my husband and I have wonderful memories of the GF. Of course I love the Y&B Club, the BW, Port Orleans (French Quarter now), the WL..... how does one choose between them? They are all so wonderful!

I am a little saddened by leaving these resorts forever and expect to go back to them once in a while for old times sake. I just hear the point values are exorbitantly high at those places. I am sure for a special occasion, it won't matter. But right now, I have 2 little ones, and having all the amenities is more important than the wonderful service right now. I am not sure, after staying at a DVC resort, that I could go back to a regular room. Maybe when we are empty nesters, we'll frequent those wonderul old favorites again. Thanks for asking. princess:

Stayed in the Embassy Suites on I-Drive and the Quality Inn Suites in Kissimmee. I don't miss either one of them a BIT!!

The only thing I'll miss is the wonderful view of Crescent Lake across to the Boardwalk, seeing that BCV doesn't have a lake view. Sure wished they could have somehow built BCV with that in mind, but the land configuration just wasn't there.

I guess we could look to stay at BWV at some point, and probably will.

My old resorts were the CBR (don't miss that a bit). The Poly (which I do miss) and the WL (which we miss).

The WL we can try and get at seven months.

But what I've discovered - even staying at the CBR - is that the charm of most of these hotels for us are in their lobbies and restaurants (well, and the convienience to the MK). We can get that charm by visiting the resort restaurants. Kona Cafe is a wonderful place. We love eating at Narcoosee's (though I've never stayed at the GF)

Our good DVC fiends said they had similar thoughts about leaving POR and staying at BCV...
Like your friends, we almost always stayed at POR prior to buying into BCV almost two years ago. We really liked POR, and there are things about it we miss from time to time. However, while it's easy to occasionally wax nostalgic, the moment we step into our 2BR villa at BCV, those nostalgic feelings quickly get filed away. :teeth:

I suspect that the next time we want to stay at WDW a little longer than our point balance allows, that we will start our trip with a couple or so nights at POR, and then let Disney move our luggage over to the BCV when the time comes. That should satisfy the nostalgia, allow us to take a longer vacation, and still give us time at our now-favorite resort on Epcot's back doorstep. :earsboy:

We have never stayed at a resort more than once, so the only thing we "miss" is the daily room-cleaning.

Well, we didn't have a "regular" resort....and we still get some cash nights on occasion...so we don't miss anything.

We still have a goal of staying in every Disney resort at least once.....(not counting the Value resorts...one stay at ASMo was enough, thanks!)...we're down to just a few to try POFQ, GF, YC (though we're willing to count BCV..) and my dh has yet to stay at the Contemporary (I did as a child). Oh, and SSR! But that won't be a problem because we can do it on points. Next on our list is the Contemporary and POFQ....though we have to wait for FQ to open again. Not sure when we'll make it to the GF....probably when our dd gets to the age where that will appeal to her greatly! Its not a high priority for my dh and myself.

So far we've enjoyed all the WDW DVC resorts....and plan to continue to do so. We really are just indecisive...can't decide what we like best!

We just signed up for DVC at SSR. We cant wait, but at the same time we just returned from a trip this October at the Wilderness Lodge. Although the room was nothing special compared to what the resort rooms will be, we love Wilderness Lodge.

So, of course we are going to try to book the Wilderness Lodge Villa's so we can stay there again (and again). As for the others I have stayed at - I dont think we will miss them at all, but Wilderness Lodge was spectacular!!!!

Eric

We have stayed at CBR, DLandings, CSR and All-Stars.

I don't miss any of the rooms and I'm extremely happy with OKW 1 bedroom :teeth: , but I slightly miss the access to the selection at the food courts. However,we love using the kitchen at OKW for breakfast. We used to rent a refrigerator for milk and juice.

From what I have read about SSR, I think the eating options there will be excellent.
