Just wondering if anyone else was at MGM this last Thursday 2/13? We seen many Sherriff's milling about the entire day. This was alittle un-nerving. Also, I noticed security was out full force that day too. I am aware of the possible soft target threat. But we were at the other parks all week and didn't notice too much out of the ordiniary except for that day. Just wondering if anyone else noticed and knew anything about it.

I was not there, unfortunately. Interesting though.

There were some dignitaries in the park -- Congressmen and such. Not sure for what event. But that's why the extra security was so evident.

That could explain it. It was definetly tight security that day.

We were at Animal Kingdom on Feb 10th and I noticed a lot of security at the park. We didn't see any sheriff's or "real police" but we certainly did see a lot of uniformed security personel. When you first saw them, their uniform seemed to resemble the same uniforms that the transportation people wear. Bright purples and yellows with security written on the back. For me, it seemed that the security guards were out of place. I know it seems like a stretch, but if you are a security guard standing at the Tree of Life I would have expected disney to have them blend in a little better. Why not a safari dressed security guard. I know I'm rambling but to sort of answer your question, yes it appears that the security was a little more apparent even at other parks.

In times like these, I'd imagine Disney wants people to see the increased security and to be able to identify them if something should happen. That may be why they were so obvious.
