I am going the first week of june to work and wanted to know the cheepest way to get to disneyland for a day or two. Is there a train that I could take and then how would I get from the train to disney. thanks. It will be my first visit there Mum:banana:

Sure, you can take a train. It will take more than 4 days to get there and the same to get back, and cost about $1,000 for the fare, not including food or anything else, and a regular seat the whole way, with no bed. Sounds like it's not worth it for a day or two at WDW. ;)

It's probably not worth going to WDW at all for a day or two. Disneyland and California Adventure are better if you only have two days, will cost a lot less, and are an easy drive from Fresno.:thumbsup2

But if you really only have 2 days, the best option I know of is to drive to Las Vegas from Fresno. The roundtrip fare from Vegas to Orlando is only $219 total, and is a nonstop flight both ways, on US Airlines. The flight is under 5 hours. I don't think anything on the West Coast is better than that.

I think you probably meant you wanted to go to DL/DCA right? There will be a train but it's really not your best option, time and money wise it's best to just drive. From Fresno I think it would be about 5 hours, maybe 4.5. We drive past Fresno on our way down from the Bay Area. :) If you really want to go to DL stop by the DL boards towards the bottom, we are a friendly bunch and will be happy to help. :)

There's also no passenger train service from Fresno to Anaheim, only bus service. The Greyhound bus fare is $41.50 round trip, and is about 6.5 hours each way on the fastest route, or up to 9.5 hours on the slowest.

I have been to the world a few times and just thought sence I was going to be down there I would try to make it to the land.

I'd find a cheap flight from Fresno to John Wayne. They have shuttles there to the resort area.

LOL Shows how much I know about Fresno and train services. LOL We always drive and we don't actually go thru Fresno from where we are so that's me excuse. lol :)

a third of the way then the bus and then the train again. Thats how you buy the train ticket, I had to call them becouse the bus symble kept showing up on the train ticket. anyway it $36 and it was like over $300 to fly. So if it works out for me I will do the train, bus thing becouse of the cost. thanks. mum

Actually, the trip is by bus from Fresno to LA (sometimes connecting through Bakersfield). The only train portion is from LA to Anaheim on local trains. There is no passenger rail from LA to Bakersfield/Fresno.

The price you were quoted was $36 each way/ $72 round trip for the Amtrak bus/local train service.

If you take the Greyhound bus, with 14 day advance purchase, the fare is $41.50 round trip. The trip take about the same amount of time, less than an hour difference if you take the fastest bus route. Both are basically bus trips. Greyhound is about half the price. You could also take Greyhound to Union Station, then Metrolink to Anaheim, except you now have to pay for the rail ticket instead of getting the free transfer from LA to Anaheim.

I want to fly into la. then go to fresno after DL. This is what I get when I put for a train ticket. you ride the train from anaheim to la then a bus to bakersfield and then a train from there to fresno its $36 one way from an to fresno you just have to trans two times. /does anyone know how much it would cost to have someone drive me up on saterday night. What kind of transpertation services there are? Thanks again

I could buy the 3 day get 5 day pass and you could have the extra days lol My work has cars and people there allready so I dont have to rent one and i'm hoping I wont have to drive eather. I live in a town of 5,000 people now. No bus service at all or trains. I think the airport has suttle service to the park and then probably a taxie to the train staition or something. I thought I could call the hotel and they could help with those few things. I found a good neighbor hotel across the street for $50 a night. I figured it would be good enough for two nights. I will be in fresno the first week of june Maybe may 31 to june 7th. I dont even know what hotel we are staying at yet in fresno. Could you send me a link to your buses that go from Ana to fresno as I havent been able to locate them on the web. Thanks so much Mum

They bus they were quoting was Greyhound. $21.50 each way (14 advance purchase required).

Also, be careful when a hotel says they are "across the street" from Disneyland. There isn't really much access to Disneyland "across the street" to the North or South. The main entrance (from other hotels) is on the East side (Harbor Blvd). The West side is the Disneyland hotel & Downtown Disney.

Which hotel did they recommend?

Is there any disney outlets around there? I would love to get some more blue mickey dishes and kitchen stuff

The one I found through the Disneyland sight was
Motel 6 Anaheim Maingate
Distance From the Disneyland® Resort: 1/4 mile
100 Disney Way
Anaheim, CA 92802

the hotels.com says its a mile from DL.

then I looked it up on hotels.com and found I could get it for $54 a night. and then just buy my tickets, it turned out to be a better deal I thought.

Please provide your full itinerary. Where do you live (city, zip), what is your nearest airport, how many days in Anaheim and Fresno (zip). Departure and Return dates.

You can get some great deals at 3.5* hotels near DL for about $40-$50/night+tax+fees using Priceline. This works well when you don't have a car, because they have frequent nice shuttles to DL and you don't have to pay their high parking rates ($20/night). You get top quality for a reasonable price. I have done this, but I prefer 1* hotels at DL via Priceline because they are nice at only $25 because I have a car and prefer free parking.

See http://biddingfortravel.com

The only problem is that everyone is going to think you're rich if you get the Hyatt Regency in Anaheim, because they won't know you paid only a $40/nite room rate.

Here's a link to the _real_ outlet for authentic Disney merchandise being liquidated from the park.

http://www.ams-liquidation.com/listings.aspx

All the rest are just regular stores. Because this is a liquidation company, they do not have as much variety as other stores. The do have a huge place with lots of stuff, but if you go looking for a particular item, it's possible they don't have it. Call in advance to ask if they have any of what you're looking for. Not everything is cheap either, but it's always cheaper than what it sold for in the park and there are a lot of good values. They only sell what they get from Disneyland. That is all they do.

Yeah, closer to a mile. Most of the resorts in the area have an ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) pickup. I think it's a few dollars a day for that.

The Disney Character Outlet is a few miles north of DL.

I would be very sad for you if you stayed at the Motel 6 in Anaheim, and paid more than the Hyatt Regency, or paid twice as much as the Extended Stay America that is right around the corner from the Motel 6.

The Motel 6 is definitely not in convenient walking distance to DL, and doesn't have a free shuttle as far as I know.

The key word is "if". I've used Priceline before for Disneyland, but I've been there tons of times and have a vehicle. If you're not careful, you could end up in Garden Grove or Fullerton or one of the other nearby cities.

The Bidding For Travel website does help with possible hotels, but it's still no guarantee.

As far as shuttles, the only hotel that I know of that has a free shuttle is the Candy Cane Inn (which usually runs $120ish/night). The only other shuttles I've seen are from time-share type hotels (Fairfield, etc).
