Anyone liked Hollywood & Vine?

We were thinking of taking the Fantasmic package & try the Hollywood & Vine...
I'm reading negative comments....any positive out there?

We did H&V w/Fantasmic package this month. Here are my observations..

Not much selection at all, especially for kids.
What was offered was not to my liking but DH like most of them.
Pot roast was FANTASTIC..probably the BEST I've ever eaten out.
Mashed potatoes were good.

Honestly, I would not choose H&V again. I tried Mama Melrose last year and was not impressed, but would pick MM over H&V. Hope that helps.

On the plus side, H&V is really close to entrance to Fantasmic for dinner pkg patrons.

We do the Fantasmic dinner package there every trip. And while H&V is nothing fancy, we have never had a bad experience there. We like the selection of food on the buffet and the service, in our experience, has been good. I actually think the selection on the kid's buffet is the best I've seen at any Disney buffet, something for every kid, even the pickiest (my DD6!!).

There's some edible salmon and the mashed potatoes are pretty good. Otherwise a fairly forgettable experience.

Yes - we do H&V Fantasmic pkg too.

The buffet has something for everyone. Not upscale items - but like going to a family picnic

The tables are formica, the seat have plastic seats - but they are always clean.

H&V is easy to find in MGM Studios. The afternoon parade is just across the street. We have a 5:30 PM H&V Fantasmic pkg on 6/30. We plan to watch part of the afternoon parade and then do dinner. Catch a few rides and do some shopping before going over to Fantasmic about an hour before the show.

Fantasmic has some pre-show antics - even some by other guests. A few years back , a guest, about college age, got our area (Witches) doing a wave and singing a round of songs. It was fun to do. The guy reminded me of a friend back in college who was always in school performances - and a big ham. He would lead people in dances in a bar (back when line dancing was in) - or tell jokes to the whole crowd.

My family of picky eaters requests it every trip.

Usually tie it in w/Fantasmic pkg., great deal IMO.

IMO, it's basically a "poor man's Chef Mickey's"...have noticed many of the same items on both buffets. Their carved meats & good and salads are interesting.

Will say that we try to eat very early there before unattended children run amuck & rip the buffet apart. There is a children's buffet area but, they are welcome to eat from the main buffet too.

Pet peeve as to the unattended children sticking their hands into food containers for a taste & even putting food back after taking a bite...yeech.

The only time (luckily) I have ever seen this was at H&V a couple of years ago! A boy actually picked up the serving spoon, licked it, and then put in back in the food. However, a CM was watching and immediately whisked the food away. The boy was definitely old enough to know better.

To the OP: We had FDP at H&V a couple of years ago because we were traveling with my DBIL who was on a very strict budget and H&V was the least expensive option for FDP. It's a big noisey place, metal chairs, pretty good variety. What I liked most was the selection of veggie items.

I doubt we will do H&V again, but we don't regret trying it.

I ate at H&V in February with my dad and step mother. My step mother really liked it, and she hates buffets...so I thought that was a pretty big compliment to them! It had some unique selections, and the ice cream sundae station was great, also lots of other yummy desserts. I thought the kids selections were fine -- i even got some from there!
