I started a thread about my microwave blowing up the other day and needing to replace it. I asked for recommendation for a new one that would be budget friendly.

My thread about this...and only this, was moved to the Just for Fun/Community Board Forum.

Anyone know why this is a Just for Fun matter and why is was removed from the budget board?

Really curious what the criteria is now for what is considered "Budget Board" acceptable material. :confused3

A whole bunch of threads were moved, including one talking about retirement savings. I was like huh?

FWIW, it is the Budget Board, but it is also under the heading of Disney Trip Planning. A lot of the threads on here have nothing to do with planning a trip to Disney.

A lot of the threads on here have nothing to do with budgeting either but they're often allowed to stay. :confused3

i thought it said any dollar saved is a dollar for disney.....so should the poster have said can you help me replace my microwave for less money so i have more money for disney?:confused3

It also could be the moderator at the time, or if the thread was reported, they may take more notice to it.

You should PM a moderator. Posts questioning moderators decisions aren't considered polite.

I'll speculate a post discussing an exploding appliance belongs in the community board.

But a post about budget friendly ways to replace an exploding appliance is pertinent to this board.

Budget Board hasn't been moderated in months and then yesterday threads were being moved all over the place. I thought it was odd as well.

Maybe because of the title? I don't know, that's just a guess - but the thread doesn't sound like you're seeking money-saving help. Instead, it sounds like the start of an entertainig experience and conversation :).

I mean, you're still getting shopping advice over there - and oh yeah, Target has some microwaves on sale this week. Don't just look at the ad; go into a store.

that was my thread and I was also :confused3 about it being moved.
how much to save for retirement falls under budgeting to me.
and any budgeting decisions that make our money go farther mean more money for disney trips imo:):)

This forum has been for years about Budgeting and other money-related topics, not about saving money on a trip to Disney. For example, the CVS/Rite Aid threads and threads about spending money on custom-made lingerie.

Personally I think this would be a much-less used forum if it was limited to saving money at Disney.

Last I checked, we live in a free country where I am free to ask questions, especially when it directly affects ME.

Here's the bottom line, I need a budget friendly new microwave. This is the budget board, so I asked those here that watch their budget for recommendations.

I do not see how any of that is off topic from Budget or impolite to ask why its not considered budget related. :confused3

I know that you're unhappy with the decision but the only way you're going to get an answer is to send an email to the webmasters and ask them that way. I don't think that they read the threads here unless there is a problem or complaint brought to their attention.

It would be nice to have some sort of guidelines as to what is and what isn't on-topic for this board. There seem to be a lot of threads that I think don't belong here but they remain. And many threads about doing Disney on a budget on other boards that never get moved here. :confused3

Lewisc was just trying to help by letting you know how to best get an answer to your question- pm the moderator that made the decision. The mods do a lot of thankless work around here and a thread like this could be seen as mod bashing.

As far as the free country thing goes, that doesn't fly on a privately owned message board. There are rules and etiquette here.

I was following your microwave thread. You could just repost with a different title.

This is a private message board. It has rules. The correct way to find out why your topic was moved is to PM a moderator.

A post describing an exploding appliance probably belongs in the community board. A post on where to buy bargain appliances might belong in the budget board.

I have no idea where a post that talks about both belongs. The way to find out is to PM a moderator and ask.
