Anyone know whhy no WINE upgrade option with free dining?

I called today to add the WINE upgrade my parents to ressie. We have already upgraded to DxDDP and I thought it would be nice for my parents to be surprised with a choice of wine each evening. Did they stop offering this? Or just not with free dining? WHY if you are willing to pay for the upgrade?

I don't know. I booked with a 40% pin and bought the dxdp, but they wouldn't let me buy the wine package. The cm even contacted guest services and it was still a no go. I'll check when the public discounts come out and see if I can get it. I could have gotten it this spring with a 40% discount and I was kicking myself everynight that I did not get it. We bought a bottle of wine almost every night. I just can't eat a signature meal without a bottle of wine to go with.

Maybe it's on the way out? Don'y know why they wouldn't sell something to people who are willing to buy it.

I don't think its on its way out. I think disney just has some strange rules. I was first booked with an airline employee discount and they would not let me buy the dxdp. Then I got a pin and I switched discounts. They let me buy the dxdp, but not the wine add on. It's weird being told you can't buy something you willing to pay for. I will most likely drink less wine and end up spending less money on wine because I can't get the wine add-on, just like I would spend less not on the dxdp. I don't think they realize without the dxdp most of us would not eat 2 ts a day. Disneys loss I guess.
